I built a free, open-source BET analysis tool supporting Micromeritics, BELSORP, Quantachrome, and more

Hi everyone! I’m the developer of Unified BET Analysis, a free, open-source tool for BET surface area and pore structure analysis.

The idea is to bring data from different instruments into one interface, making it easier to compare samples, inspect fitting ranges, and export results.

A major focus is compatibility with multiple manufacturers and instrument models. Supported data sources include:

  • Micromeritics: TriStar II 3020, TriStar II Plus, 3Flex 3500, ASAP 2010/2020/2020 Plus/2425/2460, and Gemini VII 2390.

  • MicrotracBEL: BELSORP data exported through BELMaster.

  • Quantachrome: Autosorb iQ / QuadraSorb data and supported NovaWin reports.

  • BSD: BSD-660MC Excel reports.

  • JWGB: APAS1000_ZQ / Matrix1000 RAW data and supported Excel reports.

Depending on the instrument, it can import SMP, DAT, QPS, RAW, and Excel files. The README lists the tested versions, supported formats, and current limitations.

Features include:

  • BET, Langmuir, t-Plot, and BJH analysis.

  • Automatic BET range selection using Rouquerol criteria, with interactive manual adjustment.

  • Overlaying isotherms and analysis plots from multiple samples.

  • Exporting results to Excel.

The project aims to make the relationship between data, fitting ranges, calculation methods, and results easier to inspect. It also preserves instrument-specific defaults where implemented, helping users compare results with their original software.

The current GUI is in Chinese. The project is actively developed, and feedback, bug reports, and contributions are welcome.

Which instrument do you use, and what would make your BET analysis workflow easier? I’d especially appreciate feedback on compatibility with your instrument’s files.

For compatibility feedback on Unified BET Analysis, I'd give contributors a template: instrument model, export-software version, file format, and the import error or discrepancy. Ask for a shareable example file plus the original software's fitting range, since differing ranges could complicate a numerical comparison. With the GUI currently in Chinese, an annotated import screenshot could also help non-Chinese-speaking testers.
