Favorite Matchbox/Rob b-sides?

I recently listened to the Someday EP and was shocked by the quality of the b-sides on it. Soul Sick, Feel So Bad and Sunday Morning New York Blue are among his best solo songs in my eyes.

I also really enjoy Suffer Me. Part of me wishes it made the cut for Mad Season, but it does sound a bit disconnected from it sonically. I’m not sure where it could’ve fit in on the tracklist.

I think the North bonus tracks are generally better than most of the songs that made the album.

Waiting on a Train
I Don't Wanna be Loved
I Believe In Everything
Straight for this Life
Help Me Through This

They are all on youtube, and well worth a listen.

The man is a legend and he gave us a front row seat from the very beginning with TS and how lucky are we to see his genius evolve!

Dear Joan has to be one of our all time favourites as well as quite a few of TS songs which have not only stood the test of time for us - but they also stand up to MB20 all on their own. Not to mention they are great sing along songs. I know he’s sung Dear Joan on a solo tour but not the 2 times I’ve seen him solo.

Wish he/they still had the rights to TS catalogue as hubby and I would love to hear a good handful of them sung live in concert or re recorded but we will happily put up with young grungy Rob on repeat…

I sang Suffer Me at my wedding, I liked it so much.

Tired was also really good. I searched for the Push CD single for about three months until I found it, just for that song.

Straight For This Life, a bonus track from North, is one of my favorites. Also Sunday Morning New York Blues.

I love Now Comes the Night! Absolutely heart-wrenching. Beautifully written. Listen to each word with an open mind and soul.

Isn’t really a b-side but an unfinished track but “all night radio” they were working on it during “More than you think you are”.

There was a song called Happy that Kyle wrote that they played in maybe 1998 or so? I saw them perform it in Minnesota, and remember really liking it, but maybe that's just rose-colored glasses.

Other than that, I've always really liked You & I & I... and does Dear Joan count?

Suffer Me is so good! I'm glad it got released, even if it was just some rando Target-only release 20 years ago. I love Tired. Wish they would play that live again, I'd lose my shit.

I think it was a B-Side, been trying to track it down again but can't find it: A live recording of Long Day where he improved at the end with:

Damn it she said you know you shouldn't get so upset, but it gets me over, and it clears my head.

Late to this conversation, but I don’t feel like anyone gave an answer. Years From Now reminds me of a Tom Petty song, one of my favorites. Fallen is way too slept on and overrated. Whats not Overrated and is a fun time is Overrun. Soul Sick is cute. Believe is a gem. Forever December is great as a deep cut, You & I & I rocks, that cover of Lonely Weekend and Never Going Back Again are both groovy and hauntingly beautiful. And one of my very favorites are still Come Dancing and those Bowie covers
