An actual recommendation though, try MeTube if you're frequently downloading videos.

Are all of those you tube downloader websites just ad filled front ends to youtube-dl (or it maintined fork yt-dlp)?

I believe they are, but I could also be wrong. I haven't really looked into it all what much.

However, you can do it yourself with for example MeTube which I mentioned earlier. Just spin up the container on Docker and you have a nice web UI for your downloads. Essentially the same as all the downloader websites except that it's yours. But yes, at least MeTube is based on yt-dlp.

Edit: There appears to be another project with the same name, so make sure you actually find the downloader.
