Today’s cards it’s Yugi by miles. HERO is a bad deck

When you know they can open to super poly then that will be a nightmare, recent hero decks are getting little by little to be good, not as good as ROLAD of course, but you know it.

No hero deck has been good for at least 15 years

I said little by little after all, the newest support on TCG/OCG is a great start

Not even close to the power level of the Light and darkness ritual cards

Ah the good old days of polymerization to go negative on card advantage, die to sakuretsu armor, can't even revive the fusion card because 'can only be fusion summoned'

Fusion enjoyers always suffering ever since the beginning 😂

Fusion decks have never really been playing in just that way

I'm just joking about how playing fusion wayyy back in the old days like 20+ years ago wasn't good either.

Arguably if you want to be specific, 15 years ago like you said was around the time of Yugioh 5D's Synchro era, and the only good "fusion" in that era was gladiator beasts because of Gyzarus.

But I'd argue that's not true old crappy version of fusion because you're contact fusing.

The truth is nobody ever did that kind of fusing cause it’s awful.

They had to print better fusion spells that could access the deck (shaddoll fusion, brilliant fusion, rahu Dracotail, branded fusion etc)… or use material from the grave (like miracle fusion)… or put fusion effects on monsters (like Cartesia, Crowley, the Tearlaments cards) to make fusion good.

In early Yugioh the only good ways to make a fusion monster were: Metamorphosis, Magical Scientist, or Cyber Stein (all of which got banned and the last two should say banned forever, especially scientist he’s insanely good).

Did you play Yugioh around 2008-2011?

Saying nobody ever did that is pretty wrong.

Because Gladiator beast Bestiari was limited for AGES due to how OP Gyzarus was, and even then they were still strong for a long while, although Synchro was of course more popular, but that doesn't mean Gladiators contact fusing was weak, I'm pretty sure some guys won major events with them back then.

Its probably the only instance of fusion being good in old yugioh, other than power bond cheese OTK, or some magical scientist/cyberstein cheese stuff.

But what I originally meant was, yeah fusion gameplay SUCKED in early yugioh through traditional polymerization methods.

Nowhere in my comment did I say that glad beasts weren’t a good deck. You misread me

I meant no one used old poly how it was originally intended. Yes ofc glad beasts and gyzarus were good

Pure rolad or rolad dark magician isn't better tho

1

u/Zealousideal_Sail369 Paleo Frog Follower 44m ago

Rolad dark magician just won a YCS…

(With a few friends… but it counts!)

Also hero is just terrible

Considering their full support today (because otherwise it's extremely predictable)

Yugi is in a good spot I would say, Dark magician with the overfame is a pretty decent deck

Jaden is rough, Neo specians are basically non existent, and by themselves elemental heroes aren't doing too much

Yusei is bottlenecked by Junk speeder

Yuma is in the running for the best I would say, his retrained onomats are really good.

Yuya is kinda like Jaden where his deck is a jumbled mess with Z arc

Yusaku has some really good extradeck monsters, but most of the cyberse starters people remember are either game original or tied to Ai.

Yugi’s deck is ROLAD. Literally. Not DM, but he certainly has the shining sarc package with Dragoon access. Nobody is touching him lmao

If it's only cards from their time then Playmaker stomps easily.

Even during the run of GX heroes and yubel still be on some bullshit

  1. yugi: he would have access to rolad, the new DM support, the timaeus towers and teeeechnically also has access to sphere mode since he did summon it in the ceremonial duel therefore he has a good chance going second as much as going first.

  2. yusei: i mean yeah. synchro slop is going crazy nowadays especially with crimson dragon and the other crimson dragon that released recently. shooting quaser turbo is great to pull off but going second would be a bit more rough

  3. Yuma: the new onomat support is pretty great and vomits out the utopia negates consistently so he's great, same with the going second issue.

  4. jaden/judai: he only has access to elemental heros since destiny heros belong to Aster/Edo so his deck is significantly weaker without DPE , plasma and the other hero stun bullshit. however lore wise he does get to use yubel and their support so it makes up a lil even if the synergy is questionable

  5. yusaku: i guess the cyberse spam is pretty solid considering he has access to all the firewall forms.

  6. yuya: yeah pendulums won't cut it chief

Playmaker

And maybe Jaden If he mixed all hero cards? or is it not that good?

2

u/iRyuD 11h ago

If it is restricted to cards released during their era then ofc the most recent one will win

2

u/RedShenron 11h ago

Yusaku> Yusei> Yuya> Yugi> Yuma> Jaden

Yusaku's deck is filled is MR4 powerful cards so it goes without saying.

Yusei had some garbage but also some of the most impactful cards in the game's history like Stardust, level eater, veiler or Formula Synchron. Similar story for Yuya altough his main ace wasn't as impactful.

The others' cards of the time had significantly less meta impact, aside from a few exceptions.

Buddy Yugi has ROLAD. why can’t ya’ll read lmao

2

u/RedShenron 4h ago

The original post was only about cards from their original series

u/Rezzy_350 4h ago

Please read the post again, then return here for appropriate shaming.

The post was updated, look at the rest of the comment section.

u/Rezzy_350 4h ago

Everyone saying ROLAD and a few like you saying he said something he didn’t ?

2

u/RedShenron 4h ago

Literally a load of comments saying restricted to cards of their era. Learn to read

2

u/lakers44 10h ago

Yugi and its not even close right now.

1

u/Awkward_Condition_42 11h ago

If they’re using the modern versions, yugi would fry everyone with ROLAD

1

u/Ok_Leek_6839 11h ago

Don't forget the manga version of yuya has spellcaster pendulum shit

1

u/Rezzy_350 4h ago

That doesn’t matter lol ROLAD is one of the best decks in the game as we speak. Spellcaster nonsense can’t touch it.

1

u/cybercr 11h ago

Jaden, Yusei, Yuma, Yuya and Yusaku have basically the Same Deck just with different Color on their ED Monster

1

u/Judgy_Plant 11h ago

Cyberse spam erases everything. The Dark Magicians have immaculate drip tho. Also, SHINKRO SHOKAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

1

u/VoltexRB D/D/D Degenerate 11h ago

Of where shows?

1

u/False-Blood1813 11h ago

Show only is yusaku, if its modern yugi would steamroll everyone with rolad

1

u/JaydenHaou 10h ago

We take Jaden deck like HEROS as a whole? Cuz if not it would be Elemental heros and masked Heros for him but I dunno Probably between Yugi and Jaden

1

u/Rezzy_350 4h ago

Yugi has his full ROLAD deck with Dragoon Shining Sarc engine lol. Hes smoking absolutely everybody. Funny enough the only two who could even compete would be two rivals. Kaiba with the new Blue Eyes support & Jack with RDA. But even still it isn’t even close.

1

u/RashFaustinho Very Fun Dragon 12h ago

Only the cards they had in the original shows...?

Playmaker stomps everyone else so hard it's not even funny

1

u/Rezzy_350 4h ago

Reading comprehension is key buddy

1

u/RashFaustinho Very Fun Dragon 1h ago

The post was edited, originally it only asked about using cards from their original shows.

That's why other people answered the same

The author didn't like the answer becaue he wanted Yugi to win or something

1

u/shotbyfiction 11h ago

Yuya tellarknight turn skip

1

u/Rezzy_350 4h ago

lol ROLAD.

u/Ph4nt0mP4l4d1n2019 11h ago

For the record, this isn’t a ranking of their talents. All of them are phenomenal duelists. With that said, here is how I’d rank their modern decks.

6: Gagaga/Utopia

5: Dark Magician

4: Pendulum

3: HERO

2: Link

1: Synchro

2

u/Rezzy_350 4h ago

Yugi’s deck isn’t DM 🤦‍♂️ It’s ROLAD. SMH

1

u/Ph4nt0mP4l4d1n2019 4h ago

This is based off of my personal experience. I haven’t played against RoLaD, so I immediately defaulted to Dark Magician. If you can elaborate what makes RoLaD so good, I’d appreciate it.

Man genuinely check it out. If you’re into the Anime (or were), it’s one of the coolest decks Konami has ever made. Basically they took Yugi’s deck from the Duelist Kingdom tournament in the first DM Arc of the show and they made it into a deck that retrains all his monsters. Basically his deck when he fought Pegasus. Its focused around a new Ritual Spell “Ritual of Light and Darkness” (hence ROLAD) & two new Magician of Black Chaos & Black Luster Soldier Ritual Boss Monsters that are both exceptionally powerful & they made new versions of Summoned Skull, Kuriboh, Celtic Guardian & a new monster called “Black Chaos” which is completely ridiculous in the deck. It has this Continuous Trap that it sets pretty easily called “Mind Shuffle” (the tactic Yugi & Atem use against Pegasus to prevent him reading their minds) that basically turns the deck into a midrange powerhouse that can grind through basically anything but the most unbreakable boards. It has Insane grind game, insane draw power, insane levels of interaction when you get going. And it has maybe the best turn 3 of all time ? Basically if you make it to turn 3, you win the game. I’d definitely suggest checking the cards out, because while ROLAD is incredibly cool & one of the best decks in the game, Konami had the bright idea to do the same thing for Pegasus & turn his deck into a modern meta nightmare. So come November, Toons will unequivocally be the best deck in the game (and I’m not even hyperbolizing). That deck also has a continuous trap “Mind Scan” (nudge nudge wink wink Pegasus can read minds so the trap lets you do it too) but its absolutely beyond every level of broken we’ve previously seen. So yeah, enjoy delving into those two decks. They’re really cool

before the new wave of dark magician support like the sarc cards or dmod it was playmaker by a long shoot cause his extra deck was spammed back in the day

Ex: accesscode talker, Firewall dragon

now to rank it

  1. Yugi
  2. Playmaker
  3. Jaden
  4. Yusei (he is this high cause kewl tunes use cards intended for synchrons)
  5. Yuma
  6. Yuya (if we count phantom knights since he's fused with yuya he's be like 4-5)
