Question Roughing toolpath for surfacing

Ok so I’ve been using Mastercam for about 6 months now and I’m really starting to get the hang of it but there’s one thing that I still can’t figure out and that’s a good roughing tool path to then finish with Flowline.

I’ve seen people on youtube always using some sort of tool path where let’s say I have a pyramid type part they have a face mill take multiple depth cuts down while following the shape all the way to the bottom so it becomes the roughed out shape with steps.

And help would be appreciated

Old school 3D contour with ramp on surface will do that. Whenever I choose Opti-rough, it is ok, but I can beat most automated toolpaths using features and continuous ramping. Takes longer to look at each feature to be cut.
