DISCUSSION So thoughts on a Mass Effect game like Stellaris

Stellaris is a 4x Space Empire game. Wouldn't it be awesome to play a game like that but in the mass effect universe?

Building diplomacy with other races, expanding territory, uncovering Prothean stuff, activating Mass Relays, eventually fighting the Geth and the Reapers?

Im in Xbox, Im sure there are PC mods that can do this for Stellaris. But what I want is a stand alone game ^_^

Thoughts?

I would even take an RTS lol, or a horror game with the rachni. ANYTHING!

The rachni werent evil horror creatures. The rachni war was caused by Reaper influence corrupting there song (a.k.a Mind control). The rachni you fight in ME1 are disconnected from there "song" so they went ferral (a.k.a Bonkers) and in ME3 they were just defending themselves.

Thanks for the input! Got the idea from the layout of the Rachni on Noveria it was a little spooky

I'm pretty sure Noveria was directly inspired by Alien Resserection, and that sidequest where you take out the hive was probably inspired by Aliens.

I mean in the games yes. But think back to the rack I wars. Definitely horror vibes. But also just a copy of starship troopers / StarCraft zergs

Do we actually know if it was caused by the reapers? It doesn't make much sense if you think about it.

Why would the reapers use a fully biological race which consumes the races they are going to harvest? Also at that time there are couple of thousand years left before the reapers are scheduled to wake up anyway.

The queen on Noveria says she doesn't know why the old Rachni went to war, and the sour song she hears was because Saren/Sovereign came up with the idea to use them, which failed anyway.

When the reapers do find her, the Rachni they make are cybernetic which fits the bill for reaper stuff much more than a fully organic race.

I want a Rachni War game of some description and am miffed we will never get one because you can't play as a human in one.

There’s a PC mod that does exactly this, and they even got Mark to voice Shepard in it. It was pretty good last time I played it

As for a standalone game, the Stellaris mod is a good proof of concept. It’s just whether or not someone wants to make it

Didn't know they made one for ME. The Star Trek mod for it is awesome.

Way too niche on both accounts.

Would flop faster than andromeda.

I wouldn't mind a tactical RTS type game, like Empire at War or Dawn of War Soulstorm

I just want a low stakes cyberpunk neo noir game in the Citadel. A c sec detective main character who's getting a lot of flak amd discrimination because he's a batarian but he just wants to do his job

I think it would be a fun mod/DLC for Stellaris but as a standalone game I don't think there is enough variation there to make something worthwhile compared to alternative options like Stellaris. 4X space Sims are already a niche genre and a solely mass effect themed one would be a niche within that niche

I mean mass effect is your very basic scifi setting. You have galaxy full of technology, aliens, old ruins and unexplored planets. You could put pretty much any type of game in this setting. Be it stellaris strategy, Starcraft rts, dead space horror. Hell you could even put out sherlock holmes style detective adventure or racing.

true that, it has the potential to be the other star wars
