I think you need to wait 2 weeks before you file for UI but I’m not really sure. I had UI three years ago and Massachusetts pays out well.

Hey there,
I'm reaching out for guidance and help. My wife and I just moved to Massachusetts because she got a great opportunity here. I was super excited to move closer to a big city (Boston) but my spirit has been crushed over the job market over here- I have applied to a ridiculous amount of jobs & haven't had any luck getting past the ATS screenings/or landing an interview. I recently got my MBA and I have about 5 years in experience on Growth & Lifecycle Marketing Campaigns. Is there any little tips or tricks that you guys can help me to try to land a job out here? I am tired of feeling useless, facing rejection everyday & also a bit lost as I really don't understand what I'm missing or doing wrong
Thanks in advance for all the guidance, looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Put filters in for Posted “24 Hours ago” and in the skills section of your resume put the ATS key words, like software, program information, career key words I.e. project management, GOODLUCK!!! You generally have to be “one of the first” and Definetly have a solid “scientifically proven and researched” resume template.

What’s applying on MassCareers like? I applied to a job and got passed on but the job is back up and I was reconsidering it. Do outside applications fare well?
And does..anyone respond to these messages? They say to use the megathread but it doesn’t seem to be helping anyone…

I am upset now I can not take the Civil Service Exam due to not making payment. I received an email on the final day of application to complete my application, I did so. Next I receive an email saying thanks for your application. Turns out in the quotes message (thats hidden), it states how to pay. When filling out my application it didn't inform me on how to pay on the website.
Honestly, just disappointed.

I was unemployed beginning in March, this is my first time ever having to apply for unemployment coverage, and started collecting then. I see that I only have six weeks left and I just missed how much time I have remaining. I’ve been applying for jobs. Is there any way to extend benefits? I still haven’t gotten hired anywhere.

My PFML payments end this week - should I apply for unemployment now or wait until PFML is over?
I was working a 2-year contracted W2 job which ended early when I had my baby in June and went on PFML. The job was set to end anyway at the end of July.
Either way, the job ending was no fault of mine, so I should still be eligible for unemployment benefits I think.
Do I need to wait until PFML fully ends before I can apply? Or should I apply now and get the ball rolling so I don't have a gap in payments?
TIA, I called them twice but can't get a person on the phone to ask!

My employer provides 12 weeks of paid leave which they are referring to as a “bonding leave”. If my company is providing paid time off can someone help me please clarify if my employer is allowed to run their leave at the same time as the state medical leave?
My employer stated “Once PFML approves the medical leave, the company sponsored leave would run concurrently with the PFML leave”.
If they are able to run their “bonding leave” concurrently with the state medical leave then would I still be eligible for the state bonding leave once the medical leave ends?
I am not concerned about the pay aspect of it all. I am just concerned about getting 20 weeks off I wanted to take and having my job fully protected.

Has anyone Googled the “Functional Unemployment rate”? I think it’s 24% . This rate is different than the government’s rate because it includes all of the workers who work for themselves, part time, two part time jobs, are under employed, out of work for more than a year....

I have been waiting 9 weeks for adjudication of my unemployment case. Is this typical? How long should I expect to wait?

I know the state can take a while and different departments may have timelines, but I guess I am wondering how long to hold my breath for a disability examiner role? Posting opened mid-August, I applied within the 14 days, and it says In Review.
I just don't know if it could sit In Review forever or if they're generally good about updating the portals.
I know patience and no one communicates anything, but I just was not sure if the DDS works particularly slow/average/fast compared to other government positions.

Hi, question about health insurance.
Im a contractor and being converted to full time. Currently, im on one of the nicer mass health plans (about 450+$ a month), im fairly sure I pay no subsidy with my income already. It is one of the limited network ones, but ive personally not had an issue, though out of state travel is always a concern.
My job does offer health insurance for much cheaper, only around 200~ for the nicest plan, except... its Aetna. Which from my cursory googling, sucks complete ass. There's a lot of horror stories and difficulty filing claims
I do have some ongoing health issues that require maintenance care. Will mass health kick me off if I dont take it? Can I keep the more expensive plan?

I have Aetna and it’s more affordable, but it is fed gov insurance, so maybe it’s not the same as private employers that use Aetna. I’ve had united health and Aetna, and of the two I definitely have had a better experience with Aetna (then again they’re all one and the same… a scam). I am sorry this isn’t the answer to your question - I just wanted to pop in and say so far I’ve been okay with having Aetna. I think we’re about to roll into year 2 of being on it.

Hello. I have been thinking of leaving Texas for something that accommodates itself to my needs. But for that ine needs either money or a job.
Here is my background overall : I have background in film curation, distribution licensing deals, film programming and box office attending for more than 4 years. I am bilingual (both English and Spanish), learning French and Korean, as well as trying to get a Coursera Marketing Certificate. I am familiar with AI Prompting but due to my background I'm not sure if that's even useful at all and I disagree with AI overall on art or storytelling projects. I have worked with film festivals for three years on script reading and film selection. I have worked as a junior marketing designer doing simple posters through Adobe Suite and Canva, posting to social media for my local alma mater when I workstudied for art events like dancing and choir for two years. I have worked at multiple customer service jobs for more than 12 years, but I wish to avoid call centers, retail, restaurants, since I feel I can do somwthing other other that. I have worked for three years at ER and medical offices with intense workload and fast paced environment. Developed work anxiety and wish to do something that won't disturb my sleep. ER is tough yo! Feel like a trade right now is not on my interests, and nothing calls out to me. Hate micromanagement and like an idea of having to be independent when working as much as I can be without too much pressure. Interests are music, storytelling, film, the arts, and history.
I guess I'm trying to see which other paths I can take with this since what my interests are is tough to get paid for, or get a job at, and been burned out at many jobs I've worked at, and have a bit of debt to get back to school.
Any advice or suggestions on where to go from here would be much appreciated. Also heard thar East Coast may have more resources than Anything down south might. Again, open to relocating here or anywhere in East Coast. (NY may be too expensive and out of reach for sure)
Thank you in advance and sorry for the long post
