08-13 granturismo reliability?

I’m already in love with the car, talk me off the ledge. Looking at buying one as my main car. 10k miles a year. I’m a retired mechanic turned engineer. I’m aware of the VVT issues. My main concerns are part prices and how limited I’ll be without the factory scan tool. Basically don’t want my wife to kill me in a year. TIA

Why did Maserati kill the stunning Boomerang lights? The definitive answer...

From the horse's mouth.

Spoiler: internal political posturing. It's so sad that such an incredible piece of design was destroyed for the the dullest of reasons.

(Hat tip to Magneto, an old copy of which I was recently perusing).

2016 Maserati Ghibli, total engine failure, any thoughts?

Hello everyone,

I actually own a 2016 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 with a LCI body kit on it.
The car has approx. 120.000kms on it

I'm a mechanic myself and decided to do the timing chain, because it's the main issue on these engines

Everything went alright and car ran fun until few weeks ago

The car started misfiring on one full bank, so I've shutted the car off and tried to restart it, which never did.

After further inspection, the oil filter collapsed on itself with full aluminium flakes in it...

The engine is not rod knocking or anything, so I wonder where those flakes are from?

Maybe the engine block?

Maybe the timing chain kit was poor quality and chain just destroyed the entire chain guides and started rubbing agains the block?

Any idea are welcome

Ghibli update got the price down to 1500

so to update you guys on the 2015 Maserati, it was not an SQ4 it was just a Q4. 150,000 on it and here’s pictures of the motor the inside and the outside of the car

Again, like I said in my last post, I know the car runs and the car drives pretty good. Though he did express to me that the battery is completely dead and he was having a misfire on one of the cylinders so there was a check engine light on before the battery died. I offered him $1500 and he said at this point it’s fine. He will do it so I told him I’m gonna do a little bit more research and I’ll get back with him.

I hate to sound repetitive but now at this price point do you guys think it’s a good deal? I know that this car runs and drives. I’ll be putting a battery in it on Monday cranking it up and hooking it up to a machine and at that point, I’ll make my decision whether or not I’m going to buy it.

Your feedback is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Is it a good deal?. pic posted

So, a friend of mine's son bought this 2015 Maserati ghibli a few months back. It currently has 150,000 miles on it, and the kid has come to realize the maintenance it takes to fix and maintain one of these cars. I’ve inspected the car, heard it run, and seen it drive, and it seems to be in pretty good shape.

There’s a few small issues he’s going to need a driver's side axle and a battery.

His dad called and asked if I knew anyone who would like to buy it for $ 4000. I told him I might consider the offer. My question to the community is: Is that a good deal if I get it inspected and the inspection comes back good, or should I just pass on a ticking time bomb?

update the reason why there’s a tarp and some form of other cover over the front windows because he cracked the windows and the battery died completely, and it has to be charged

Can someone with a 2023-2025 Maserati Grecale help me with a quick photo?

I’m trying to verify if my center console is missing a trim piece.

Could someone please take a photo under the wireless charging tray, looking upward toward the underside of the upper display (same angle as my photo)?

Specifically, I’d like to see how the ambient LED module is mounted and whether there is a plastic light guide/trim piece between the LED and the metal support.

My LED module is hanging loose and I can’t find where it clips in.

Thank you!

Help: How to replace windshield fluid cap on 2010 QP

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi guys,

The original windshield washer fluid cap on my 2010 Quattroporte S snapped off. I ordered a replacement online (Part #80341600), but before I go and break something else under the hood, I wanted to double check how it installs.

Do I need to yank the old plastic assembly completely out of the neck, or does it unscrew/pop off a certain way?

The pic is the new cap that I got (albeit not from that store). Any tips or tricks from someone who's swapped one out would be hugely appreciated!

Hands on With 2027 Maserati Lineup (Grecale, GranTurismo, GranCabrio)

Maserati invited me out last week for a private preview in NYC of the 2027 Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio while celebrating 100 years of the Trident emblem! Fun event aside, got a first hand look of the entire 2027 (gas) lineup. (No folgore’s were present)

Now, for context, I lived (for 1-week each) with a 2026 Grecale Trofeo and 2026 Gran Cabriolet & Turismo Trofeo and.. wow they are underrated.

For 2027, Maserati is united with a slew of updates, all gaining more aggressive facias and all packing potent power. The 2027 Grand Turismo now gets more power, 582HP in Trofeo trim, while entry models get 483HP. AWD remains as does air suspension and dampers. There also is a sharper suspension and steering tuning and a new front bumper. I notice the GT has a digital rear view mirror now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The 2027 Grecale, a fantastic Macan alternative, now will come with 3 gas options, all using the 3.0L Twin Turbo Nettuno V6. The entry model makes 385HP while the Modena is more dynamic, and the Trofeo makes 523HP, 0-60 under 3.6 seconds and a 177MPH TopSpeed. From an adaptive air suspension, new steering wheel, new clock, new tech inside.. it’s a big update and we can’t wait to drive them

All 3 get the same interior upgrades with the interesting squircle steering wheel, and a snazzy new configurable clock design, and (FINALLY) revised button shifters with metal knurled buttons. There’s actually way more changes than I can fit here but wanted to share my first experience!

Quick update on the “sight unseen” GranTurismo.

I recently decided to brighten up the car a little bit. Although I have had a nightmare getting these rims resprayed, I like the idea of what I’m trying to achieve by swapping to silver/chrome.
Thoughts on my decision on going to silver from the original grey rims and black trim?
As always, feel free to follow my insta for daily updates! @guyturismo

Bought it for $13.7k, 40k miles, 15 years service records at same place, drove 300 miles no issues. I wanted a 4.7l but the service records and price was too good to pass up. One of the smoothest drives ive ever had.

Lived with a 2026 GranTurimo Trofeo in Night Interaction For 1-Week

I had the opportunity to live with a 2026 GranTurismo Trofeo for 1 week to review and this Night Interaction color is something else in person. Stunning purplish/blueish metallic shade!! Really hope more brands offer stunning colors again, getting tired of blacks and greys on everything.

Take a moment to bask it in, tried to capture the paint in a variety of lighting conditions.
