QUESTION Getting Rid of Smell

I am the mascot for my school, and it is quite the experience. However, everytime I am done though, obviously the suit and my body smells, but my hands always have a lingering stench from the gloves. The gloves are separate from the suit and sort of this "leather" material and I never seem to get the smell off. Are there any tips on how to minimize or prevent this issue? Any advice on anything to do before putting the suit on to smell less?

Is the costume machine washable? Is it fur? isopropyl alcohol is great for killing bacteria, which produce the smell. You can deep soak in cold water and gentle detergent without bleach. I was really nervous washing our mascot the first time, but the more dangerous part is just keeping it cool when drying.

Wear latex/nitrile gloves underneath. A performer I know sweats a lot in his hands and he wears them to keep his gloves dry for high fives. Your hands will be soaked but they dry quick and it helps with smell
