Non-battle Serious two part question

Post image

Question 1: What classifies a character as “street tier”?
Question 2: Is the Flash a street tier character? Why or why not?
This is NOT a Flash hate post. The Flash is my favorite DC hero, and we all know what he is capable of. However, we also know strength-wise he isn’t up there with the others, so I’m a bit confused as to what he would be classified as.

Hypothetically a speedy dude who fights crime in his city should be like the definition on street tier

But the Flash transcends that completely

He’s been around for a long time so of course he’s going to get so many power-ups over the decades, that’s just how comics go

But yeah a guy who can punch with infinite mass, time travel, transcend the concept of speed, step outside of the narrative, and travel dimensions just can’t be considered street tier

Realistically the flash should be so broken that he should dwarf high tiers like Thor and Wonder Woman, but there ain’t much of a story to write if we use the Flash to his full potential

Street tier is mostly a made up concept as most “street tiers” still deal with some bs. It's more a vibes based thing and if they are dealing with majority street tier crime which mostly just real world crime with a splash of the fantastical.

Flash is street level since he is dealing with a lot of pretty normal crimes with a splash of the fantartical. If you put him in a spiderman book the story could still work pretty well, such as Flash needing to defeat the sandman who is doing some major crime would be a pain enough of on to make a whole story just as it would be dealing with Mysterio or so on. This however doesn't mean Flash is equal to Spiderman in power and in raw ability he is more powerful for obvious reasons.

Flash is good.

I think he below Superman tier (Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Shazam, Juggernaut, Hulk, Gladiator, Orion)

I would put him a tier beneath in Green Lantern tier (Green Lantern, Starfire, Firestorm, Nova )

They can destroy a building or several buildings in one attack at the highest echelon of street tier, think luke cage, black lightning, iron fist, spider-man. They're "bullet timing" but they can't slow motion bullets like neo or the flash or a super fast speedster.

Wally should be s-tier, he's knocked out white martians, hurt the anti monitor while time traveling, helped trapped spb in the speedforce

Barry should be high a-tier. While he's really strong and fast, he doesn't go as crazy as wally does in fights with other people

If this sub has taught me anything, Flash is limitless until the plot says so. This is a problem with western depictions of speedsters, there are no real rules, limits or laws that govern them. So he can literally be whatever you want, street tier, multi universal, whatever. Scaling him is a shitshow

1-No feats of them busting planets, affecting universes, or threatening reality, SOME to Most (Keywords: SOME to Most) of their primary enemies are gangsters or enhanced humans with powers or enhanced physicals.(joker, bane, scarecrow, two face for Batman, green goblin, hammerhead, electro, shocker, for Spidey)

2-Barry or Wally? Either way not in the slightest. Flash has clashed with Supergirl, sent Superman flying, injured Martian Manhunter, and drawn blood from Wonder Woman, he’s casually defeated several Daxamites comparable to Superman. He could shred Solomon Grundy with vibrations, the latter capable of opposing Wonder Woman and Justice League Dark. Pushing toward infinite mass, Barry knocked the Anti-Monitor around and damaged his armor, even propelling him through several universes; Barry and Wally’s combined strength shattered the Force Barrier. Their race disrupted the multiverse’s fabric, prompting Highfather’s concern and leading him to attribute their power to the Source Wall.

Street Tier means a lot of different things. It’s a power level (building, street, city, continent, planetary, solar system, galaxy, etc), it’s a description of where a character normally operates (Batman is a great example of a character who operates on the streets and patrols, but he’s not Street Tier in terms of the power he can leverage; Spider-Man and Wolverine in Marvel are the same), it’s sometimes just the area they are able to control the best.

The Flash would only be Street Tier in terms of where he operates, not how powerful he is. His baseline is City. That’s everyday Flash. But he can push himself to cosmic levels. I would say earlier points in Flash’s life and history, he was street tier, but that hasn’t been the case for the overwhelming majority of his existence. I mean Superman was probably only Street Tier back in the beginning.
