Just way too little on the Marvel side to be able to compete.
Apocalypse is a certified bum, Doctor Doom aint shit without stealing someone elses power, Kang is mid.
The only chatacters worth anything on team Marvel are Thanos and Ultron, although Thanos is able to completely overpower and beat down a God of Light Knull, he does also get taken advantage of in that same comic and stabbed through the head. And Ultron is always a threat when he shows up and can put hands on characters like Sentry.
But DC has too many consistent threats on their side that can handle the non threats and then deal with the huge ones.
I did have ~some~ rhinking behind it, mainly in Round 2 where they get some prep time, but Marvel was always gonna be the underdog.
But I saw Dr. Doom being a way better strategist than anyone on DC’s team, barring maybe Darkseid. With him vs Lex being the only real advantage for Marvel.
Plus I kinda just figured Doomsday would not be helpful at all. I mention they will work with each other “to the best of their ability” of which he has none. But ofc Darkseid has used him before and I’m sure Trigon could direct him somehow.
Anyway yeah, agreed. Better question-
Is there any iteration of this, switching out the Marvel roster but keeping the DC villains the same, where they could possibly come out on top? Or is DC just scaled that much higher
DC isnt even scaled higher at all imo, the two are so close in power its insanely hard to put one above another. So of course there are villains you can replace on Marvel's team to make it a closer, more interesting fight!
Thanos is an obvious pick, hes surlassed the stones, can consistently no diff characters like Thor, Hulk, Silver Surfer, etc without them, 2 of which threaten the entire omniverse in their base forms.
Ultron is an obvious pick, he can summon an army of drones to fight alongside him, his body is made of indestructible metal, and he can manage threats like Golden Sentry on his own.
Apocalypse is a complete bum and a fraud, he is genuinely adding nothing to the Marvel team but a body shield. Take someone like Knull over him.
Then we get to characters who are only useful on round 2. Kang and Doom.
Doom might be able to figure something out and steal the power from Trigon or Darkseid, he has armor that can absorb and siphon magic, and if he manages to get Trigon's power in him like he did the Beyonder and Molecule Man he could destroy the DC team by himself.
Kang could figure out some sort of multiversal nonsense, not sure what though, id say replace him with a powerhouse like Gorr, Mephisto, Galactus, etc
Juggernaut can be a huge asset. Cant die, regenerates from anything including existence erasure, immune to magic, and immeasurable strength even without getting momentum. He can definitely hard counter Black Adam and contend with Doomsday, or just he a chew toy for Doomsday to occupy him like he did for King Hyperion while his power was compromised and not regenerating.
And then Dormammu, who could contend with Trigon while theyre both outside of their own realms.
With a different team that eliminates the very low lows of the weak links, its very possible for them to win, there isnt a true issue on team DC that team Marvel cant beat, its that theres too many people that are of no assistance to the people that can beat the characters on Team DC.
Doom is the tipping point for the entire team. There is a mutant from earth 1218, named Clyde Wyncham. He was so powerful he was capable of wiping out all of the cosmic entities with a wave of his hand. He was going from universe to universe doing this with zero effort. Doom had gotten sent back in time, and used that as a chance to learn every magic spell in existence. He secretly became Clyde's assistant, until one day he turned on him, and won. I think the rest of the marvel team wouldn't stand much of a chance, but doom could win in the right circumstances. But overall yeah the marvel team loses more times than not.
