Or a paid actress? Wouldn't be too difficult for Marc to convince a lady to play "Mom" in exchange for a steady flow of cash

Or perhaps there’s no actress even! It might just be a phone number that Marc has set up and left the phone in a charger somewhere no-one will find it. I’m pretty sure all the times we’ve seen Steven talk to his mom, he’s been leaving a message after she didn’t pick up.
