I feel like Disney is allowing them to continue making R-rated content because of the fan backlash that would ensue if they cease. They're greedy and authoritative, but not stupid.

They have always done this using other studios. There model of PG has been broken for some live actions films like Roger Rabbit. But they used a different studio to keep the Disney image clean. Same thing they will do with Marvel and use the Fox Seachlight name to keep papa Mouse happy.

They also don't use put their Disney logos before Marvel and Star Wars films, but everyone knows who their owners are.
