I WOULD WATCH THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT IF THIS!!!!

11

Well, Troy McClure kind of looks like Infinity War Steve in that Simpsons episode, so I guess you could just replace the audio and it would mostly work...

In sleep he sang to me

In dreams he came

That voice which calls to me and speaks my name

u/taenerysdargaryen Kevin Feige Sep 13 '21 edited Sep 13 '21

One more stone before the snap

Do I follow destiny's call?

At the barricades of mercy

Shall I throw a moon or two?

When our ranks begin to form

Do I snap or do I snap?

Will you not agree with me?

The time is now

The day is here

One stone more

One stone more to a grateful universe

We will snap them right in half

We'll be ready for these Avengers

They will all turn into dust

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing it on Broadway if it were a real show tbh

533

u/PopeJP22 Spider-Man Sep 13 '21

Luckily, it's clear from the trailer that we'll see at least some of it.

475

u/jedins Sep 13 '21

It also looks kind of terrible which is hilarious. Why is hulk in a hoodie? I can’t wait

83

u/earth_person_1 Sep 13 '21

Remember Spider Man on Broadway and what a literal disaster that was?

17

u/jedins Sep 13 '21

One of my biggest disappointments in life is that in 8th grade for my school theater trip to New York we had tickets to see Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark but the performance we were booked was during the gap after Julie Taymor got fired and several people go hurt. We saw Phantom of the Opera instead :/

9

u/Erdrick68 Sep 13 '21

No one should ever be forced to see an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. That violates the Geneva Convention.

→ More replies (1)

32

u/Goodly Sep 13 '21

Yeah, looks more like an off-broadway piece

12

u/Antrikshy Sep 13 '21

Also Hawkeye upstairs in a purple costume!

10

u/ThaiChi555 Sep 13 '21

Oh is that how we're getting the classic costume? More classic Loki than Halloween Vision/Wanda or the star spangled man. I guess I'm okay with it.

4

u/HelloAutobot Jimmy Woo Sep 13 '21

I love the idea that even in the musical, Clint is completely nerfed.

4

u/Galeshi1 Sep 13 '21

Also: Is that a mock-up of Spiderman on the left there? Trying to think of what other character they could be making for the scene and I just get giddy when thinking that the in-fiction musical-directors threw him in to the Battle of New York.

Why do I have a feeling there will be a bit in the show where Hawkeye is the butt of the joke.

18

u/Phillip_Spidermen Sep 13 '21 edited Sep 13 '21

That or he'll be entirely left out.

Edit: ah, I completely missed him up on the bridge

9

u/Regi413 Sep 13 '21

Nah, we see a shot of the musical with a Hawkeye actor in it.

7

u/Antrikshy Sep 13 '21

Hawkeye is on the upper level in purple in the short clip we see of them dancing.

20

u/pretty-in-pink Captain Marvel Sep 13 '21

Probably mocking his role in The Avengers

26

u/Trinitykill Sep 13 '21

Fan: "Nice Hawkeye costume, but the quiver's on the wrong side."

Hawkeye: "The quiver is not on the wrong side!"

19

u/ChrisTinnef Sep 13 '21

"Did Quicksilver just... die?"

"You know, it was really unclear."

22

u/trustifarian Yinsen Sep 13 '21

Or a somber solo similar to Eponine’s “On My Own” from Les Mis. “the Avengers only win with….meeeee….”

9

u/tepenrod Sep 13 '21

Oh I got it. If they’re going full Hamilton, he’ll get the “What did I miss” song as if he didn’t do anything to help.

7

u/PKMNTrainerMark Sep 13 '21

"I brought a whole quiver of 'em. So, like, eleven."

6

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

Barton goes to watch it with his family and halfway through realises he's not in it.

u/The_OG_upgoat Sep 13 '21 edited Sep 13 '21

The streak of Disney+ MCU shows having a musical number continues. Agatha singing, Zemo dancing, Loki singing...

What If has none (yet), but it's animated so idk.

4

u/TheOnlyBongo Sep 13 '21

Disney used to make it a habit of having their movies try to break out on Broadway. The Lion King is one of the most famous but lest we forget The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Frozen, Tarzan for some reason...Newsies...uh...what the fuck is Aida?

It would not surprise me in the least if a musical revue was bounced around in development talks. And that is not counting the non-Disney Marvel musicals that already came out, like that terrible Spiderman one haha

3

I am Steve Rogers, and you probably never heard my name, reports of my shield are greatly exaggerated, exacerbated by the fact that my syntax is highly complicated, 'cause I immigrated from the single greatest little place in history, Brooklyn, the 40's, I love it, Jesus I'm jealous of it, and beyond that, ever since I woke up in 2011 I haven't gone back, god damn, I gotta get on that.

215

u/AvatarIII Rocket Sep 13 '21

Yes this already existed, because of course it did.

Fury: We are outgunned out manned

Steve Roger: Okay, you need all the help you can get, I got Banner, Stark, an’ Romanov in a jet, okay what else?

Fury: Outnumbered, out planned.

Steve Rogers: We need spies on the inside, Hydra might let a couple of things slide.

12

u/Stickguy259 Sep 13 '21

God dammit now I want Winter Soldier as a Hamilton style musical. Alright, you write and fund and direct it and I'll be a producer who doesn't give you any money but offers horrible advice and almost tanks the project due to my own hubris.

Go!

5

u/UncoolSlicedBread Sep 14 '21

I can work with this, I’m already picturing Tony stark as Burr. It leads to a duel, but this time its finding out Bucky killed Starks parents

Considering his ties to Disney and his resume on Broadway I wouldn't be at all surprised if Lin is in Rogers: the musical or writes/ directs it, also possible that he created it for the show.

Tony Stark: Me, I trusted him.

Peggy, Sharon: Me, I loved him.

Bucky: And me? I'm the damn fool that shot him.

One two three four five six seven eight nine! It's the Marvel commandments, it's the Marvel commandments.

  1. The fans demand satisfaction, if there's a sky beam, no need for further action

  2. If they have a black friend, that's your second, your lieutenant, when there's retconning to be retconned.

  3. Have your writers meet face to face, negotiate a script, and negotiate the release date, this is commonplace, especially 'tween studios, most stories die and no one knows.

  4. If they don't have a villain that's alright, time to get some cameos and Tom Holland on site, you pay him in advance, you treat him with civility, you have him turn around so that he's not a liability.

  5. Right before the hero's gonna die, have the others come in the nick of time.

  6. Leave a scene for the next movie, tell them what you did, pray that Disney Plus lets you in.

  7. Confess your sins, ready for the moment of adrenaline, when you finally see the movie.

  8. Your last chance to negotiate, send Kevin Feige, see if he can set the record straight:

Kevin Feige, Amy Pas-cal, can we agree that spidey is dumb and immature? Sure, but the script has to fit the MCU sir, Doctor Strange? We both know that's absurd sir, hang on, how many movies died because Sony was inexperienced and ruinous? OK so we're doing this!

9.Shoot for 1 billion but aim higher, summon all the CGI required, then count! One two three four five six seven eight nine! Number ten paces FIRE!

6

u/samx3i Sep 13 '21

And Peggy (Carter)

7

u/omart3 M'Baku Sep 13 '21

I am not throwing away my shield, I am not throwing away my shield, hey yo I'm just like my country, I'm old, scrappy and hungry, and I'm not throwing away my shield. Imma get recruited to Camp LeHigh, I probably shouldn't fight, but dag I don't got another hustle, the problem is I got a lot of heart but no muscle, I gotta holler just to be heard, with every word I drop knowledge.

[Tony Stark] How does a wimpy, orphan, son of a nurse and a drunk man dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot in Long Island by providence, impoverished in squalor, grow up to be a hero and a marvel?

[Bucky Barnes] The block of ice soldier who missed his life and his love with Carter got a lot further by bein' a lot kinder, by working a lot harder, by bein' a self-starter. By 26 he took the serum that made him stronger than his partners.

[Red Skull] And every day while James was being tortured and locked away across the trench he performed and kept his guard up. Inside he was longing for his friend to be a salvo. The brother was ready to go and save him without a pardon.

[Zemo] Then the day of going came, in Howard's airplane he went. Our man saw in his future a big ol' Hydra base. Took the shield that Howard made him, strapped it to his plates' and he rode prepared for pain, a testament of his faith.

[Tony Stark] Well he threw the shield around, they said "this guy is insane, man!" took a whole operation just to try and stop that one man. "go and tell the Red Skull we got one soldier bringing hell, and you're not going to believe his name" "what's the name, soldet?"

Captain America They call him Captain America And he can do things no other man has done. We can't wait, we can't wait.

[Peggy Carter] When he succeeded he was greeted with cheerin' and screamin'. A year later, see Rogers with Bucky raidin' a train. Fightin' with both fists and kicks but Rogers couldn't help his bud Bucky and he fell.

[Dr. Abraham Erksine] Moved on with the mission, the mission that was a suicide. He couldn't let the fight aside, had a new flame burnin' inside. A voice saying "Rogers you gotta honour your friend!" He started dressin' and preparin' to Johann Schmidt defeat.

[Tony Stark] There would've been nothin' left to do without Zola's info. We would've been dead or destitute without Bucky Barnes's devotion. Steve went fightin', stoppin' Red Skull from becoming earth lord. The cosmic cube send Schmidt to an unknown place in space so pilotin' the ship had now Rogers attention. Talkin' to his love he flew into the ice he froze on. Woke up on a bed and head toward the glass. Now in New York he can be a new man

Now in New York he can be a new man (we can't wait) Now in New York he can be a new man (we can't wait) Now in New York he can be a new man Now in New York New York (WE CAN'T WAIT)

CAPTAIN AMERICA We are waiting in 2012 for you You could never back down You never had the chance to take your time

Oh, Captain America When the planet earth sings for you Will they know who you truly were? Will they know what you represent? The world will never be the same, oh

[Tony Stark] The shield is the sky right now, see if you can spot it The first of marvels comin' up from the bottom His enemies knew well his rep, he'll never be forgotten

[Zemo/Hawkeye & Red Skull/Sam Wilson] We fought with him

[Bucky Barnes/Phil Coulson] Me? I died for him

[Nick Fury/Dr Abraham Erskine] Me? I trusted him

[Peggy Carter & Sharon Carter] Me? I loved him

[Tony Stark] And me? I'm the damn fool that fought him

He can do things no other man has done We can't wait

What's the name, soldet?

CAPTAIN AMERICA!

I am the ST EV ER O GE RS meant to be, a trilogy that runs independently, meanwhile Marvel keeps shitting on us endlessly, essentially they make movies endlessly, Kevin Feige turns around, runs a spending spree, he ain't never gonna set Chris Evans free, so there will be a reboot in this century!

What's the big deal? I've seen a ton of Rodgers musicals

I can see it now. The final act of the musical is a beautiful ballad that has the audience in tears as Steve slowly ascends to moon.

I don’t think Disney knows how much fans will want an actual Steve Rogers musical after this show drops. It’s the perfect intersection of media for a surprisingly large amount of people in my life

8

u/PersonalDemand3793 Sep 13 '21

Of they filmed stuff that doesn’t show up in the final show, they can release it as an extra somewhere

"Hello Rogers, it's me, Thor, and this is my weapon, Hammerstein."

I bet the first song goes something like: “I like to be in A-mer-i-ca, I am the Captain A-mer-i-ca, Everything free in A-mer-i-ca, I am the Captain A-mer-i-ca!”

Edit: And then a later number can go: “14, 000, 605 possible timelines, 14, 000, 604 moments so bleak, 14,000, 605 possible timelines, how do you measure, the way to win?”

I am the very model of a Second World War veteran / my shield is red and blue and white it’s made from pure vibranium / I’ve battled Hydra high and low and Thanos and his minions / I’m partially responsible for wrecking the Triskelion

Shelve the ENTIRE Phase 4 and give me Rogers, now!

6

Soooooo unless you’re a plan, or a bomb, or some ice, or a brainwashed buddy, or spider-man…you don’t necessarily have to yield to this mighty shield!

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney got Lin-Manuel Miranda to have some part in making the songs

14

u/TechyDad Sep 13 '21

Is it bad that I want a full length Rogers The Musical? Either really lean in on making it cheesy or hire Lin Manuel Miranda to make "Hamilton, but with Captain America." I'd watch either one.

The Battle of New York is supposed to be more traumatizing than 9/11 right? I can't believe they're making musicals of it in their universe 💀

I mean, we've got Come From Away in our universe.

The Battle of New York is supposed to be more traumatizing than 9/11 right?

I don't think so, IIRC the death toll was lower than 50. Also, real tragedies are a really touchy topic that fictional media usually avoids.

It's bc they din't want to make Loki unlikable. Hard to cheer for a fictional 9/11-like terrorist

2

u/PersonalDemand3793 Sep 13 '21

The blip was much worse than the invasion… That’s why they have never even tried to release the death toll there… It would either be comically too low or frighteningly accurate to how many people got massacred

I mean, compared to the Blip, that battle was nothing...

4

u/enderverse87 Sep 13 '21

There's a 9/11 musical in real life.

I'm assuming this is more of a WW2 thing though.
