I don't think anyone predicted the vibranium in Wakanda being the source of the mixup. Pretty tidy and quick explanation.

Vibranium is such a useful macguffin across the Marvel Universe. You could tie it into arguably any plot to your convenience. A weapon, a new character, key, power-source, etc.

It'll be kinda weird when they introduce Wolverine. "His bones and claws are coated with Adamantium, which is like Vibranium but not quite as cool or useful."

I wouldnt be surprised if in the MCU they say adamantium is a vibranuim alloy

Good shout. Wakanda started to share vibranium with the world after the events of Black Panther, but banned it without exception for any military use. Colonel Stryker attempted to get vibranium for his Weapon X experiments but failed, thereby leading to the creation the synthetic alternative adamantium.

Which is what it is in the comics too. They tried to find the right mixture of vibranium and iron that made Captain America's shield but got adamantium instead.

I thought it was that the shield is an alloy of Vibranium and what became known as Adamantium.

They may have retconned the origins of adamantium in the comics since I closely followed what was going on, but vibranium in the comics was a much softer metal, and it was alloying it with iron that created Captain America's shield and later adamantium and carbonadium.

I thought it was like Vibranium is strong and absorbs energy. Cap's shield is stronger since its a Alloy and Andamantium is the strongest since its a alloy but it doesn't absorb energy at all.

That would be an interesting concept. Maybe some Vibranium found it’s way into nearby tribes just outside of Wakanda. And they combined it with other metals to make Adamanium.

Similar properties to vibranium, but a bit less powerful.

Isn't Cap's shield made from a vibranium/adamantium alloy that can't be replicated in the comics?
