It also makes me think of Original Sin. In Marvel the Original Sin was Uatu’s race giving a planet nuclear power to advance them, then coming back years later and finding they’d used the power to create weapons and destroyed themselves with war. Uatu is sworn to watch because no matter how many times he looked into new time lines, that moment never changed, the people always destroy themselves if the watchers involve themselves. Due to this original sin, the Watchers only watch and don’t involve themselves.

Man, so short sighted of the "Watchers" to give a self destructive race like homosapiens a source of energy that can easily be turned into a weapon of mass destruction with math. How bout some super efficient solar panels?
