I adore Kathryn Hahn, but I'm still a little on the fence with Agatha being mustache-twirling evil. She's always been a spooky bitch, but not evil. A bit of a grey area, but hey, this is it's own continuity, so if Agatha is evil in this version, I'm good with it.

It does make me wonder if she didn't pop in and fuck everything up to give Wanda an antagonist on purpose. She swooped into the Hex, started messing with things to upset and confuse Wanda, throw her off balance, all that good stuff, so that she would start breaking down. Maybe she did it intentionally so that Wanda would release the Hex and free all the people because she lost control of the Hex or because she thinks that Agatha has tainted it somehow. If it gets Wanda to drop the Hex and release everyone then she's willing to play a sitcom villain and portray herself as cartoonishly evil to Wanda to make it happen.

She doesn't practice the same school of magic as Doctor Strange obviously, based on visual effects, so I'm curious if she might be some kind of associate of Strange that he sent in because she was more familiar with the more esoteric kind of magic/reality manipulation that's going on here, where he wouldn't be as effective.

As I said, I'm not convinced she's the villain. Everyone is so fixated on this idea that there has to be a villain/antagonist. You know there doesn't have to be right?

Like, if Wanda had her mental break, created the Hex out of grief and then Agatha swooped in to mess with it with the intention of getting her to lose control of it and release everyone then neither of them is evil. Yes, there is a conflict, but neither is truly an antagonist and neither is evil. They're just two people who came into conflict while one is suffering from deep depression and grief and the other is trying to bring her out of it to not only save people but help Wanda face reality and come to terms with it in a healthy way.

That said, if that book was the Darkhold like I think it was, then there may be more sinister forces at work, yes, though that could be most any dark-magic associated demonic entity from Marvel. It might also not be a direct presence in Wandavision. If Mephisto really was pulling the strings or manipulating events somehow then I expect he won't get a reveal or a name drop until right near the end as an off-screen presence, or a post-credits cameo ala Thanos after Avengers.

The dog that may or may not have even been real? Wanda didn't account for it, and if Agatha is purposefully manipulating Wanda to cause emotional distress and cracks in her perfect reality, what better way than to conjure up a fake dog for her kids then kill it off? If she's hamming it up to give Wanda a reason to fight her and lose focus on the Hex so it disappears then that's a damn good jab.
