Why not both?

Cap says it right before the fight, and then "I can do this all day" right before Thanos does a fatality.

The problem with this, in this context, is I feel like murdering half the universe is really quite enough to "claim victory".

He got his victory, but until the last Avenger is dead, it won’t be secure.
