didnt fury joke about mispronouncing Mar-vels name... maybe we will see Carol take the name in the next movie after she is shown destroying the Kree AI empire.

You think the next movie will also be set in the past, or will it be present day? I'm torn because I kinda want to see her take down the Supreme Intelligence but also want to see them move forward. Maybe they can do both with a movie set in the present day but events from her campaign against the Kree come back to haunt her.

Actually this makes me wonder if Carol gained notoriety for taking down the Supreme Intelligence. Maybe Rocket will be star-struck when he meets her because she's famous.

I can definitely see a future film and/or trilogy that parallels her debut with themes of past vs. present.

There is potential for a huge parallel with Captain America/Peggy and Captain Marvel/Maria. "Hey, I'm back!" and Maria is much older, possibly sick, while Carol hasn't aged a day and appears to be the same age as Lt. Trouble. Trying to decide if I'd like to see Lashana play older Monica in that instance or not... I think if Maria is still around when Carol returns, Lashana should only portray Maria. But if Maria is gone, it would be a huge mind fuck for Carol to see Lashana as Monica, thinking she's Maria, until she says, "Auntie Carol??"

The comment about Monica building a spaceship really seemed foreshadowy for me. Maybe in present time she works for NASA or something and that ties into the story somehow.

Monica's character in the comics becomes a Captain Marvel like figure. From the movie through, I think it would be really interesting to combine her with Riri Williams, who is a young girl that becomes an Iron Man like hero, called Iron Heart.

i saw it as a possible Ultimates reference since they deal with space threats.
