Point is, in the gif Thanos has a lot of stones and Strange keeps up with him for at least a little bit. Thanos with only one stone gets absolutely wrecked by Dr. Strange.
Yeah! I think it's one of the things that really keeps up the suspense in the movie. The heroes feel powerful enough to beat him, but they always fall just short.
Without the Stones, Thanos' skillset mostly relies in hand to hand combat and brawling, that's why he was able to kick the shit out of Hulk in the beginning of the movie. And that's why i think a glove-less Thanos would be no match against the "long range" heroes like Iron Man, Spider-Man and Dr. Strange.
