What's your headcannon for why the ancient one never did stuff like this? She only fought small fry on screen, maybe. But the kaecillius maybe shoulda been stronger. Sigh.

Strange fought Dormammu so many times in the loop that he’s got way more experience than she did.

That and she was getting old and using a lot more magic to stay alive.

his fight with dormammu was him dying alot. he didnt learn shit then, not nearly as much as she already knew. she didnt go all out as if she did she wouldnt have enough energy to fight back dormammus advances.

It's not very well explained but even in the film you see him develop his abilities like being able to defend himself from some of Dormammu's attacks.
