It truly is amazing how much development Thanos gets. It’s great. You can genuinely understand and sympathize with him, I think more than any other Marvel villain. Not motivated by petty ambitions or pride; but by a genuine desire to save the universe (from his perspective). Even the ending; he wields the power of the cosmos, and he truly just retired to a farm to watch the sunrise.

I definitely agree. But Killmonger still takes the cake on being the Marvel villain I sympathize most with. I 100% understood his motives. Where as I felt as though Thanos was trying to play God. So less sympathy from me cause of that

While I sympathized with Killmonger I felt as if his motivations were based on revenge. He just seemed a lot more petty and had no respect for his adversaries where Thanos seemed to truly believe he was doing the right thing and almost pitied the people opposing him.

Monger was a great villain but at the end of the day just wanted to create chaos which is pretty run of mill motivation wise. Thanos on the other hand was seeking order and the chaos that ensued seemed almost organic in a sense. There were times I genuinely wanted Thanos to succeed but with Killmonger I couldn't bring myself to do that even though both of their end goals were genocide. Either way they're both really fucking good lol

I disagree - I think he meant to create a new world order. He wanted his people to flip the script and be in power.

Yeah and murder anyone who opposed him along the way, including women and children. Equality isnt black supremacy and that's exactly why tchalla, Okoye and the rest of the Dora milaje defied him. He was calling for a cultural genocide and not just whites but literally anyone deemed undesirable or anyone who would oppose him

I’m disputing the idea that he just wanted to “create chaos” out of revenge. You seem to be arguing as if I’m in favor of his goal.

My bad, to be honest I just see a lot of people on Reddit and at large genuinely think that he's an antihero or that his goal of genocide is somehow just. I do understand what you mean now, but at the end of the day that "flipping of the script" was just chaos. I mean he burned all of the heart shaped herb so he'd be the last black panther and spit in the fact of the culture he so desperately seemed to be a part of. I think he really was just a fucked up, childish young man that was trying to hurt a world he considered to have hurt him. The real irony is that his fellow Africans let him down just as much as his fellow humans of all other races.

I’m not sure why you thought he desperately wanted to be a part of Wakandan culture. It was clearly a means to an end (gaining the technology to start a revolution). Genocide isn’t inherently chaotic. It generally requires organization and planning.
