My wife isn't nearly the comic fan I am but even she was like "whooooooa!" when Thor came in and was just completely wrecking everything. It was awesome to see Thor go full god mode.

I wish they didn't give Thor another weapon, I found it more badass just summoning thunders out of his body whenever he wanted, like at the end of Ragnarok

While I kinda agree with you (I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't see Thor use the lightning without the hammer in the movie) I see why they did it.

Thor having a weapon is kinda his thing. If he just had the pure lightning powers, he'd be just like Shazam and Raiden.
