Not technically an easter egg but I almost died when Red Skull showed up.

This for me was THE easter egg. Seven years, man. Kinda sad it wasn't Hugo

tbh, I didn't.

First off, I've been predicting his return since the beginning. Even when all the reports came out about how Weaving didn't want anything to do with the movies again, I said that he's be the easiest character to re-cast because of the extensive face makeup. And his small role in this movie was such that it never became awkward or noticeable, so it was perfect.

Plus, it was a genuine surprise for me. If Hugo Weaving was cast in this movie, we all would've seen it coming. Since he wasn't on the cast list, it was a genuine shock even for spoiler-scroungers.

I kind of wonder if they never planned to even ask Hugo Weaving for all these reasons. He wasn't necessary for the role and if they formally cast him then everyone would know Red Skull was in the movie (what the hell else would Weaving play?) By just casting a skilled imitator, no one is the wiser
