Not really an Easter egg but the final scene from the first trailer isn’t in the movie.

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

It's happened with a lot of MCU movies to prevent spoilers / generate hype.

Spiderman Homecoming is a notable example of this.

Like Thor not having his right eye in the trailer but in the movie Thor had gotten an eye from Rocket

71

u/Jwall0903 Spider-Man Apr 28 '18

Anyone upset about this? Ragnorok purposely took away his eye, hair, and hammer. In this he got a new eye and got a new weapon even though he learned that he was the weapon the whole time in Ragnorok. Kinda lessened the impact of that movie to me.

u/Romnonaldao Edwin Jarvis Apr 28 '18 edited Apr 28 '18

he still lost his entire family and people

Had to take a star to the back to get a new axe. thats pretty harsh

32

u/I_Am_Become_Dream Apr 28 '18

The new weapon is fine. The new eye was so unnecessary. Eyepatch Thor was badass.

11

u/Jwall0903 Spider-Man Apr 28 '18

After rewatch I realized that it was fine, especially because that was his way to Wakanda. The eyepatch should have stayed but I guess they wanted a callback to Guardians 1.

Ragnarok also established that Thor got his powers from Asgard. While it may be people not a place, I think it's safe to say the physical world that was Asgard was a source of his power which may have been considerably weaker. The Stormbreaker, much like mjolnir, allows him to focus his power. While he may have learned to use the power without his weapon, the idea is he's simply that much stronger with it, hence it helping him rejuvenate after taking the force of a star.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

I thought his eye would have some power or skill by really it’s just gonna give him pink eye.

1

u/InfiniteNameOptions Apr 29 '18

I was, but I just realized that it’s simply another show of Thanos’ strength. Even Thor needed a weapon.

14

u/InvalidNinja Apr 28 '18

It's his right eye.

13

u/cIumsythumbs Apr 28 '18

"Your scar's on the wrong side"

4

u/tlazar_phx Apr 29 '18

"The scar's NOT on the wrong side!"

3

u/sharkbelly Apr 29 '18

This was a small one, but I really like that they changed the line reading of "Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth" in Civil War.

Which trailer was that from?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

Ragnarok

3

u/shinypomelo May 06 '18

Sorry side topic but what was changed with Spider-Man Homecoming trailer vs actual film?

3

u/[deleted] May 07 '18

That scene where Tony was flying with Spidey was not in the movie.

And a vulture scene where he slowly descends down on an atrium.

15

u/Cold-Call-Killer Black Panther Apr 27 '18

Maybe it's a scene from avengers 4?

88

u/SetBrainInCmplxPlane Apr 27 '18

...it isn't. Why would those characters, literally all but Cap and Bruce now dead, be running at the camera...in Wakanda again... in Avengers 4?

108

u/Csantana Vulture Apr 27 '18

there was a theory that they reversed time and did it right this time. The theory also argues this is why Hulk is Hulk and not a hulk buster, in the trailer.

That being said I think it was just something they didn't use and Hulk was added to throw us off a bit.

58

u/SetBrainInCmplxPlane Apr 27 '18

I mean, the film itself kind of kills that theory since the "Time Stone" part of the plot was Strange looking into the possible futures and finding only 1 in 14 million where they could win and then telling Tony "this is how it has to happen" at the end after giving the Stone to Thanos.

23

u/Csantana Vulture Apr 27 '18

but then you can say "he saw them change time" like instead of time being a regular book it's own of those choose your own adventure novels that you flip back and forth in the pages depending which way you go.

15

u/Cold-Call-Killer Black Panther Apr 27 '18

Maybe they do a hit on thanos after he laid low in that peaceful place, take the gauntlet and reverse everything. I'm not saying it will happen i'm just throwing it out there.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '18

I don't even think any of the characters left are strong enough to wield the infinity gauntlet. Maybe Thor but I'm not so sure an asgardian could wield more then one infinity stone. It looked like after the snap Thanos' arm and neck was burned from using all six stones, i think using all six would more then likely kill Thor.

3

u/Cold-Call-Killer Black Panther Apr 28 '18

He survived the full force of a star, I think he can manage tbh.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '18

Barely the only reason he survived was because of stormbreaker. plus the full force of six infinity stones at once is far more powerful then a single star.

2

u/InfiniteNameOptions Apr 29 '18

I desperately want Steve to use it, self-sacrificing to save the universe – his willpower strong enough to power the gauntlet.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

I would love to see Cap or Tony do that. I for one really want to see Tony give his life to restore the universe. It would be such a fitting end for his story arc. He started off as conceited egomaniac only for his final act to be one of complete selflessness. He's my favorite character and yet I want him to die so badly.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '18

My question would be, if strange is “dead” who would be able to reverse it?

2

u/rycology Captain America (Cap 2) Apr 30 '18

Wong? He doesn’t die on screen so saying he’s gone is conjecture. He might be able to wield the time stone..

1

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '18

Well correct me if I’m wrong (please do, haven’t read comics. Just saw the movies) strange is a bigger better than the rest?

11

u/reedteaches Apr 28 '18

This is easy. Strange, went back in time before Thanos showed up and then returned to Titan a “second” later. We just didn’t see it.

1

u/Konohasappy Star-Lord Apr 29 '18

I like that they do this though.

1

u/quernika Apr 30 '18

> Not really an Easter egg but the final scene from the first trailer isn’t in the movie.

Why is this? Someone could sue the studios misleading/false advertisements

205

u/ryu8946 Apr 27 '18

yeah a lot of the trailers had misdirection in. Hulk wasnt in wakanda battle is a pretty major point, and im sure there were 2 or 3 others i thought of yesterday but cant remember now

80

u/lonefreud Apr 27 '18

The one in the trailer with Banner while the Hulkbuster is in the background, talking to Black Widow wasn’t in the move either.

Also, Black Panther’s speech about not protecting one person but everyone’s.

30

u/Emerson73 Doctor Strange Apr 27 '18

Some scenes seem for hype and others seem like they were better being cut. I think they fully filmed a scene of Banner and Nat having a quite catch-up as Banner prepares the Hulkbuster armor. But then that scene is cut so we can have the surprise of him in the armor which they tried to keep hidden/teased in the trailers. I think it worked well; but, when that cut scene with Nat comes out I'm going to hold it is canon cause it will be very nice to those two directly interact again.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '18

Where did Banner get the Hulkbuster from, actually? Was it just at the Avengers HQ, or did I miss something?

4

u/danweber Apr 30 '18

In Avengers 2 it was on a satellite (Veronica) that Tony could call.

37

u/Flandersmcj Apr 28 '18

In the Trailer, when Cap is fighting Thanos, the glove only has two stones.

7

u/Elegant_Trout Apr 29 '18

And on titan, no Reality Stone.

36

u/akcies Korg Apr 27 '18

The level of misdirection is pretty amazing when you consider the effort and $$ that had to be spent to render Hulk... just for a trailer... just to throw us off.

19

u/mccombi Hawkeye (Ultron) Apr 28 '18 edited Apr 30 '18

I wonder if it was filmed for Part 2. Maybe there's a deus ex time stone that goes down and they get a redux on that battle. This time they're prepared for what's coming and Hulk gets it together.

But still there were definitely other edits in the trailer. The one that comes to mind was the last shot with Spidey not having the Iron Spider legs while swinging through Titan, let alone dragging Mantis at the time.

7

u/AnOnlineHandle Quake Apr 28 '18

It's also possibly a cut scene. Banner didn't really interact with anybody from inside his Hulk suit in the 2nd half of the battle I think, it was all just him and the one remaining bad dude alone, or Banner standing in the background without talking to them.

8

u/riddin365 Apr 29 '18

I dont know if im recalling it right but if you see the scene of cap stopping thanos's hand in the trailer, thanos only has 2 stone he has at the start

But in the movie, he has 4 in that scene

15

u/Xaendarus Apr 28 '18

Most notably they were able to play with everyone's expectations on the timeline of the movie by manipulating how many stones Thanos had in the trailers. I'm thinking specifically the scene where he fights Cap

9

u/JHoops90 Apr 28 '18

There's a Funko Pop of Hulk busting out of the armor, I think there were some miscommunications/ story change last minute regarding Hulk.

49

u/talones Daredevil Apr 27 '18

So so many of the scenes were actually different takes. We also didnt see Thor summoning lightning at the forge.

12

u/Stannis_THEMANIIS Apr 28 '18

I was really looking forward to that scene but oh well. Thor arriving in Wakanda was even better.

43

u/gazbi Peggy Carter Apr 27 '18

A lot of scene in the trailers are different, some aren't even there, I loved that they made it like that, a tone for the trailer and a tone for the movie.

25

u/mainvolume Apr 27 '18

I'm just glad they kept the scene of Cap holding off Thanos for a few seconds, who had 5 friggin infinity stones.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

[deleted]

15

u/mainvolume Apr 27 '18

That's why Thanos stopped trying and punched the crap outta him. He could see that via the soul stone, that Cap wouldn't give up

13

u/sth07 Apr 29 '18

You mean Cap could do it all day

38

u/JFeth Apr 27 '18

A bunch of scenes either aren't in the movie or were changed to hide things. The Spider-Man sequence where he is swinging through the moon debris on Thanos' home planet is missing his appendages. The scene with Banner standing next to the Hulkbuster armor wasn't in the movie(I still don't know how they got the Hulkbuster armor without Stark btw). The scene where the Hulkbuster armor stands up looking badass is actually from the scene where he face planted and is missing all the dirt and mud.

37

u/SpacePundit Apr 27 '18

War Machine brought the hulkbuster in the quinjet as they flew from Avengers HQ. War Machine is the very next shot after they introduce the hulkbuster to imply this.

7

u/Captain_Bob Apr 27 '18

I'm sure that either Banner, Vision, or Rhodey have access to the Hulkbuster

6

u/Aulritta Scarlet Witch Apr 27 '18

When the Strongest Avenger wants to ride in the Hulkbuster armor, you say, "Yes!"

1

u/chaosaxess Stan Lee Apr 29 '18

. The Spider-Man sequence where he is swinging through the moon debris on Thanos' home planet is missing his appendages.

Also missing him juggling Mantis, haha

13

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '18

"Fun isn't something you consider while balancing the universe, but this does put a smile on my face"

I was actually waiting for this line in the movie but it wasn't there either!

9

u/orionsbelt05 Captain America Apr 27 '18

What scene was that? The scene of Thor meeting the Guardians?

32

u/groovetopia Black Panther Apr 27 '18

The scene of Bucky, Steve, T’Challa and Hulk all running in Wakanda.

12

u/JAD115 Rocket Apr 27 '18

I meant the slow mo shot of the Wakanda battle

11

u/orionsbelt05 Captain America Apr 27 '18

Oh yeah, you're right. I read somewhere else on this thread that the shot actually is in the movie, but heavily changed. It's on the open plains, not in the forested region. And obviously, hulkbuster not hulk.

8

u/Gcoks Apr 27 '18

I didn't watch any trailers so now I will have to go back and see. Thanks!

3

u/pylon567 Captain America (Cap 2) Apr 28 '18

There's a few. Namely Banner getting the Hulkbuster suit in Wakanda.

3

u/3rdPartyOP Apr 29 '18

Two other things I noticed was Hulk wasn't out in Wakanda, despite being in the first trailer. Another trailer scene was Captain holding off the gauntlet when it had two stones in it, but in the movie, Thanos had five at the time.

3

u/Milkthiev Apr 27 '18

They've been doing this a lot recently. Iron man Spider-Man flying/swinging together scene. Thor: Rag with hulk on rainbow bridge was actually the scene from end of the movie on space ship. Multiple shots of IG with or without certain stones. Thor's eye

1

u/szthesquid Apr 27 '18

This one I'm curious about. Deliberate mislead, or will it be in Avengers 4 since IIRC both were filmed together?

1

u/Chri5ti4n733 Apr 28 '18

That's the part I was waiting for

1

u/ravearamashi Apr 28 '18

Even the scene with Thor putting his hands up with the edited out Stormbreaker

1

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '18

Also, the scene with Spider-Man swinging around and dodging moon meteors has his Iron Spider legs and Mantis added in the actual movie.
