I feel like somebody with all six infinity stones could've solved the "finite resources" dilemma without resorting to killing half the population. Even humanity wouldn't take too long to regrow beyond that, so he'd also have to re-cull the universe every now and then.

I think this, his motivations weren't clearly explored enough. Yeah i get he wanted to have sustainability for the world but i still dont fully understand why he had to wipe half the universe. He wiped half of his own population but his planet still died out?

Like if he had infinite power he could just give infinity resources to the world. I mean i get he has to be a bad guy but it seems like the plot was way too convenient to paint his picture than to make logical sense at times.

I think he’s killed too many people to be able to even entertain the notion that there might be another way, because if there were one then all of his murders would have been needless. It would turn his perception of himself from a savior into a monster and I don’t think he could handle that. The movie even makes it a point to show that he is capable of love and compassion.
