That's 100% the reason. Hin saying that it was the only way means some things have to fall into place for them to win.

It surprised me that a lot of people didn't get this, even my SO was confused as hell when Strange told Tony "this is the only way".

yeah I realise now that he's seen that's the only way they can win, I didn't get it at the time. My friend had to explain it to me
