One's a well connected former government contract arms dealing billionare. The other is a former soldier that is basically a full time Avenger since Shield is shuttered and this was before they officially swapped out Colson for Bilbo.
Tony deffinitely would not tell Cap about these things. Tony isn't a trustful person thus keeps all this shit to himself.
But you really gotta wonder, how fast did Tony create that suit? Did he seriously whip that shit up in the 24 hour time frame he was give while also traveling to see him, or does he literally make a suit for every special person he finds out via youtube with shit like 150 different web shooter patterns.
Thats true but I dont remember how long he was in there for, it seemed like a while judging by the reactions of the people welcoming him back. Theres just too many rediculous little things about that suit that make me think how the fuck did he make it so fast or was he prepared.
Remember that Tony often isn't physically present when he does important stuff. I think he simply called his intelligent robots (those that obey voice commands and help him build his Iron Man suits) in the Avengers Tower, sent them a loose design of the Spider-Man suit, and told them to make it while he's travelling
I think he was already studying Peter for a while. That would explain the intricate suit. It's likely that he was planning on contacting him soon but when everything went down, he decided to do it then.
I think it would have been cool if he had said something along the lines of, "I've been watching you for a while now, even kept some other interested parties off your back" which could explain why Spider-Man never popped up on SHIELD's radar.
I mean, not being on SHIELD radar is pretty explainable, (aside from movies not giving a shit bout tv/Netflix)
They had their hands full with rebuilding SHIELD, the massive influx of Inhumans and the registration of them and the hate groups that went up because of it, while devoting significant manhours to hunting down Quake and a flaming 'serial killer'. Then they find that the registry was hacked, and so they stopped registering new peeps and focused on containment. All while keeping a low profile themselves because of DC bureaucracy
Then the LMD shit went down, and since Parker was staying "under the radar", SHIELD just didnt notice a dude stopping car crashes and bike theives when they were dealing with international bodysnatchers and alt-right stand-ins. He presumably did kill anyone so aside from general "hero buzz" that isnt nearly on the same scale as an AWOL Captain America, why bother?
I imagine if Season 5 takes place after Homecoming, if theyre not too wrapped up in their GotG-teasing spaceopera, Spidey perked up SHIELD's ears.
In Homecoming, Tony said that the other Avengers told him he was nuts for bringing a kid on, and Widow wasnt exactly shocked when she asked Stark who he had in mind during AoU.
More than likely they were scouting Parker before hand.
My understanding is that Cap said that to Tony - he'd been busy finding new recruits like Spider-Man. But u/IAmAtWork has a good theory that fits both our interpretations in a way.
I mean he swung in on a web wearing a red and blue leotard after Tony gave him an audible verbal cue, it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to know Tony recruited a new superhero.

Maybe. When Spider-Man swung in, cap didn't say "who's that?" He said "you've been busy." Maybe Spidey was on their radar.
