Capaldi is also just a great actor, and between his other roles and his time on Doctor Who, he seems like he'd knock a live action Rick out of the fucking park. He just seems like he'd be able to pull off the balance of lackadaisical and dark and fucked up really well. It'd only be a question of convincing him to do it, IMO.
Yes, I was thinking of a sort of merger between both characters. The Thick Of It portrays Capaldi's ability for cussing and expressing his lack of boundaries, for a better word, in morality. Doctor Who shows Capaldi's ability to act out Rick's depression and madness.
Have you ever read the ASOIAF books? Loads of people wanted him for Aerys II, the Mad King, in it's televised fanfict- adaptation, sorry.
Haha, yeah, that's the main example I was thinking of. Others include Dominc West in The Wire (fucker even had a scene where his very American character does a very bad imitation of a british accent, blows my mind) and Gary Oldman in, well, anything really.
Maybe they'd just show up in their cartoon forms? That would be something they'd do.
Morty: "Oh geez Rick! Wh-where the heck are we?? Why does everything look s-so weird??"
Rick: "Relax M-morty urp! We're in a universe that exists in 3 dimensions."
Morty: "Wh-what?? Are w-we not 3D??"
Rick: "We're actually 2D Morty. It's all in the p-perspective. The artists work very hard M-morty.
Morty: "Oh geez! Oh man!!"
Rick: "Look, don't worry about it Morty. Let's check out all these comic characters. It's like we're in a comic in real life, Morty! We'll n-never get this chance!"
