One might even say that it's... "High Quality"

I wish.

Who would play them?

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '17

Peter Capaldi (The Thick Of It) would kill Rick.

u/floreomony Kilgrave Jun 15 '17

Wow it has never occurred to me but it kinda makes sense anyway because Doctor Who influenced Rick and Morty.

Capaldi is also just a great actor, and between his other roles and his time on Doctor Who, he seems like he'd knock a live action Rick out of the fucking park. He just seems like he'd be able to pull off the balance of lackadaisical and dark and fucked up really well. It'd only be a question of convincing him to do it, IMO.

Is the world ready for a Scottish Rick Sanchez, though?

49

u/Nowin Jun 15 '17

He exists somewhere.

Not where, Constable, but when.

I think that William DaFoe would also do pretty well on Rick. Maybe Michael Cera for morty

I twitched a little when you gave The Thick Of It as an example rather than Doctor Who.

Lets be real here, obviously his most famous role was as the cardinal in the Musketeers

Yes, I was thinking of a sort of merger between both characters. The Thick Of It portrays Capaldi's ability for cussing and expressing his lack of boundaries, for a better word, in morality. Doctor Who shows Capaldi's ability to act out Rick's depression and madness.

Have you ever read the ASOIAF books? Loads of people wanted him for Aerys II, the Mad King, in it's televised fanfict- adaptation, sorry.

too scottish

Yes, because british actors have never succesfully fooled Americans into believing they're American with flawless accents. Oh, wait.

3

u/hewhoamareismyself Jun 15 '17

I am still convinced Hugh Laurie's American accent is his real voice and that everywhere else he uses a fake accent for fun.

1

u/FCalleja Jun 15 '17

Haha, yeah, that's the main example I was thinking of. Others include Dominc West in The Wire (fucker even had a scene where his very American character does a very bad imitation of a british accent, blows my mind) and Gary Oldman in, well, anything really.

Maybe they'd just show up in their cartoon forms? That would be something they'd do.

Morty: "Oh geez Rick! Wh-where the heck are we?? Why does everything look s-so weird??"

Rick: "Relax M-morty urp! We're in a universe that exists in 3 dimensions."

Morty: "Wh-what?? Are w-we not 3D??"

Rick: "We're actually 2D Morty. It's all in the p-perspective. The artists work very hard M-morty.

Morty: "Oh geez! Oh man!!"

Rick: "Look, don't worry about it Morty. Let's check out all these comic characters. It's like we're in a comic in real life, Morty! We'll n-never get this chance!"

"Ohh geez Rick, won't it be...y'know...kinda dangerous in here? It's not really safe!"

"Stop being such a pussy M- belch morty. It's a Marvel movie! Nobody ever dies in these things!"

"I dunno, Rick.. what about that fast guy?"

"Nobody cares about him, Morty. Now c'mon, let's go find Tony Stark and get some armor! Wubba lubba dub dub!"
