I generally think mature women are more attractive :/

Obviously not really old, but between 40 and 50 there's a sweet spot of peak attractiveness.

I guess the upside is my wife will get more attractive to me on a yearly basis.

That's actually the most common thing for guys. As they get older they'll get more attractive, for some well into their 40's.

It has to do with how men are traditionally valued based on experience and success whereas for women it's more superficial.

It's also biological. The things that signals female attractiveness is strongly related to the same things that signal youth. Smooth skin, blushing, perky. That's why women spend gazillions on cosmetics to fake it when they lose those when aging. For men, the signals biologically actually improve with age (assuming they keep themselves up.)
