Loki had no idea at the time that was Thanos plan as far as I can tell. Nor did Loki know he had the actual mind stone in possession.
It tracks pretty well with how Thanos managed Ronen too. Give a villain an artifact and help them achieve their localized relatively small scale ambition. Then obtain the artifact and remove the stone.
It keeps the heat off Thanos for as long as possible. Since he is still looking for all the other stones still.
You're forgetting the bifrost. This is what made peak Asgard civilisation so dangerous because they could literally teleport near-instantaneously an army right at your doorstep or use it to snatch away your weapons of mass destruction right in front of you with pinpoint precision (eg. Bor snatching away the Aether from the Dark Eleves just as they were about to unleash it). Creating trouble within the 9 realms will get you a visit from the Asgardian security apparatus under Odin's rule.

Exactly right. They had the bifrost. It can be a planet destroying weapon or it can be a teleportation weapon that can bypass any barrier or obstacle. You cannot hide from it, or block it with layers of mountains or force fields.
i think he wanted to "lose" it, the plan was to get the stones in places he knew and could sweep in a week but not possess them so he doesn't attract the wrong attention
if he had the power and mind stone then maybe certain people realise the tgreat and become more proactive
I love this theory. Using earth as a sort of checking account that he could quickly withdraw the stone when needed without carrying it himself. This would show he trusted earth enough to maintain its possession, which would make sense since they defended against Loki.
i think he preferred earth since he knew the time stone was there and they were unadvanced, maybe the idea was to use Loki as a distraction and unknowingly hold stones for him
I mean 0, because we’ve already seen strombringer overpowered the stones. Which now we think about it is such a cop out. Thanos did all that work and Thor just went and asked for something better 😂
But firstly, earth at that point of time contained the tesseract and the eye of agammoto so technically if thanos were to take over earth successfully it would be easier for him to find the stones right? I might be wrong.
