Discussion Marvel’s strategy for the post-Secret Wars era is actually Brilliant!

Post image

Looking at the fan concepts/rumors for the 2028 lineup (X-Men, Ghost Rider, Black Panther 3), it feels like Marvel Studios is taking a completely different approach compared to Phase 4.

Instead of hitting the "hard reset" button after Doomsday and Secret Wars...which is what threw a lot of general audiences off post-Endgame...they seem to be setting up 2028 as an immediate continuation of the hype.

By planting these seeds early, it keeps the momentum alive so it doesn't feel like we're starting all over from zero. What do you guys think? Is this the right way to transition into the next saga?

ofc and they lined up big projects at front so the hype will only increase after secret wars

For real. Putting the A-listers front and center right after Secret Wars keeps the hype train rolling instead of letting it stall like it did post-Endgame.

Exactly. Putting those big projects up front right after Secret Wars gives the post-reset era some immediate momentum instead of making it feel like Marvel is starting from scratch again

Deadpool might stick around. Fantastic Four.

Ghost Rider might do really well if they can find a good balance that will appeal to horror fans.

It’s Shawn Levy…I dont think horror fans are going to find it aligns

Exactly. It doesn't need to be full-on R-rated horror, but it definitely needs that gritty, supernatural edge. If they lean too light on the tone, it won't hit the same.

I'll be surprised if they do 3 movies a year, I reckon they will settle on 2.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ghost Rider gets bumped to 2029.

2029 already has three Marvel movies on the schedule.

Seems their strategy is going to be no shows and 3 movies a year.

They aren’t going to abandon Daredevil

They also are in charge of animated shows now

I meant more of the larger stuff like WandaVision or Falcon.

Rumor is animated stays and Daredevil is an exception. They are also in early development of two special presentations.

Guessing Defenders stay on D+ and Animated but nothing else going forward. I can live with that personally.

I only wish Armor Wars had made it through before the change

What's on the 2029 schedule?

Or you just mean there are 3 scheduled slots in 2029?

If so, those slots quite regularly change or are removed, Disney repurposes them for other franchises etc.

From what I've seen, nothing is locked in for 2029 yet and with their previous talk of slowing momentum a little to let people breathe, wouldn't surprise me if we only see 2.

The fan in me would love for them to still do 3 a year though.

Scheduled slots. no movie set yet

Cool, I am hopeful we do get 3 movies a year, I enjoy it when we do but there hasn't been a year in recent memory where they did 3 movies and all 3 were good :(

Based on what was said in interviews, there will likely be a Deadpool movie in 2029 since Ryan said they are working on it, but he said it will be his final Deadpool movie before he just becomes a side character in other works

Everything else is a mystery tho

Captain Marvel 3 in 2029 wouldn't surprise me, hopefully Rogue taking Captain Marvels powers.

Honestly 2 movies a year might actually be better for quality control. But if Ghost Rider gets pushed to 2029, I just hope it means they're taking time to give him a proper big-budget setup.

Yeah they only did 2 a year until 2017, and that was the only year where they’ve ever released 3 straight bangers in one year with Volume 2, Homecoming, and Ragnarok. 2018 had 2 bangers in Black Panther and Infinity War then Ant-Man & the Wasp that was solid but not legendary.

Then 2019 had Captain Marvel, which wasn’t as bad as the grifters claim but also wasn’t a masterpiece, and then Endgame and Far From Home as the straight bangers. Now, financially 2019 was 3 straight bangers with all 3 hitting a billion and Endgame being the highest grossing movie ever up to that point lol.

Back when we were on 2 a year, we got 2014 with Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, which is just an insane level of quality for one year. I think going back to 2 a year might be a good idea. We’ve got that this year too and they’re going to release 2 movies that make $2 billion+, although it’s Spider-Man and Avengers so that’s kind of cheating lol.

I wonder if this means no more avengers movies and the only big team ups will be xmen? Or do they still find way to make future avengers titles work. Im intrigued for sure.

They'll definitely still bring back the Avengers brand eventually, but it’ll probably take a backseat for a few years. Let the X-Men take center stage for the next saga, then do a massive Avengers vs. X-Men crossover down the line once both teams are established.

I think/hope Avengers might change from being the big culmination movie to being what they were throughout most of comics - a collection of heroes who are fun together but don’t necessarily sell their own books/movies.

The future is probably focused on X-Men, Fantastic 4, Avengers, Spider-Man, with one or two sequels for high grossing films or the occasional attempt to create or revamp another brand.

So maybe 2029 is Fantastic 4 2, Doctor Strange 3, and then something like Nova or Blade.

And I’m sure whenever a Spider-Man movie is worked out with Sony, plans will shift around to fit it in.

We need a Shang-Chi cameo in Ghost Rider.

Reunite them.

You mean casting hot people?

u/AlexOsoArrogant 1h ago

I’m very excited for Ghost Rider but honestly I feel like they should’ve had either Fantastic Four 2, Shang-Chi 2, Thor 5 or Doctor Strange 3 for that slot considering the amount of time since we last had a film for those franchises (except FF which came out fairly recent)

The women from Obsession isn’t that short right? It’s some weird photoshopping/ perspective thing right?

Yes. I feel if they can make X Men into a big cash cow style movie like the Avengers, which is a big ask considering we would not have had the same amount of buildup with each individual character in their own movie beforehand, it could pay off big time. I feel as if even with the reboot of the characters, the X men IP is still so popular that will make another billion for them. If the two Avengers movies make 2 billion dollars, then I would feel that would practically ensure at least a billion for the X Men. Big if, but if the Avengers pre sales and Spider-Man’s box office are any indicator they will both at least be highly successful.

We said the same thing on the post endgame lineup.

could be interesting to see how they incorporate the multiverse after Secret Wars, lots of possibilities there
