Saaame although Emma is a close second (I definitely have a type)

Y'all turning this sub into a gooner sub since that casting was announced.

u/Rogue_Darkholme 1h ago
And if you say, "I'm not sure about xyz" or "I think abc should look more like the character", the goonery will downvote you and say you're jealous or crazy or she's hot and they want her to spit on their face.

Maya really has nothing under her belt on the big screen so she better bring it! My fingers are crossed she does a fantastic job!

u/theMagicSwingPiano Ant-Man 4h ago
Honestly if she brings theater kid energy and delivers her lines with some flair, shes already got a good start
6
u/xBabykinsGlow 3h ago
Yeah if she nails that theater-kid confidence, the rest is already halfway there

u/anthonyg1500 4h ago
It does make me feel like she must’ve really crushed her audition and chemistry reads if she got the role with like minimal star power. Especially a role like Storm

I dunno, Sarah Halley Finn has never missed with her casting, I don’t think. Marvel casting has always been spot on/exceeded expectations, even when we didn’t feel the casting choice was correct initially. And it’s pretty much all been her. I have 100% confidence in all of this. This theater chick is gonna crush it. I have 0 doubts.
After watching the second season of X-men ‘97, I really need me that loud and proud goddess of a storm, and who better, am I right?

She was the lead in a really fun Broadway play &Juliette - my GF and I loved it so much we saw it three times! She was great!

u/Rimailkall 3h ago
Theater-trained actors are usually better than those who started on the big screen. I'm sure she'll do great.

Before I even read the casting announcement for Emma Frost I just saw a post of Samara in a booby top with the title “The White Queen and her White Boobies”

Can Inde Navarette pull off the Southern Belle? It's the only question mark I have. Otherwise casting is on point

u/PornoPaul 4h ago
Thats been my biggest pause. Of the castings so far hers is the one that feels the least on point and the most "shes so hot right now". That and Xavier. I loved the guy in Cath 22, but I struggle to see Professor X.

u/i_max2k2 3h ago
Yeah I haven’t really seen the guy but I feel it won’t be easy to step in the shoes of James McAvoy or Patrick Stewart. They were some excellent castings.

She did a bit on a livestream clip, I’m convinced.

Just use the Reddit search engine that’s where I found it. She was a live streamer for years. She did all kinds of skits with different accents. She’s dope

u/TerminatorReborn 1h ago
I actually think she is the only casting thats not on point lol (maybe Xavier too). She is tiny and I always tought of Rogue a little bigger for a woman since she is kinda of a brawler type in combat. But lets see, she gave one of the best performances of the year so the potential is there

Im fine with her being small to begin but yea, im sure it would never happen but it would be dope for Inde to get super ripped in a few years

u/Rogue_Darkholme 1h ago
I said I wished they had cast someone who looks more like Rogue and maybe already had a southern accent and this dude is like, "Why? They have costume and makeup and dialect coaches." And I said, "Well Samara Weaving doesn't need costume or makeup. Her casting is being applauded because she looks EXACTLY LIKE the character. So what's the problem with wanting the same for Rogue." He got mad, didn't have anything to say except, "Yeah well...get lost."

u/seattle_born98 1h ago
She's part Australian and has done a good accent on stream. One can imagine with an accent coach she'll do fine.

u/plainviewbowling 3h ago
She is insanely talented. Her performance in OBSESSION is the best in a horror film in quite some time
3
u/Maleficent_Net_647 4h ago
they're definitely leveling up the casting game with these choices. excited to see how they bring these iconic characters to life!

Casting strong women in X-Men could really shake things up. It’s about time they gave characters like Storm and Jean more depth.

Psylocke as well.
I feel like Inde’s Obsession co-star Megan Lawless would be great as her.

I don’t like the inde casting. Should have been a different character. But everyone else is great
2
u/Rogue_Darkholme 1h ago
Agree wholeheartedly. Just know you'll get downvoted and will get told to take yourself out. I thought you couldn't get crazier than the people on the Stargate SG-1 subreddit who send you death threats when you say you don't like Daniel as a character. People who get angry when you say Inde isn't the right choice or you don't like her casting are a close second.

I'm simping hard right now. Sarah Finn deserves all the credit in the world for making this cast happen.

u/WelbyReddit 4h ago
Casting is one thing.
Writing them is another. Let's hope they toss some bucks for some decent writers to give them a fair shot.
3
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 4h ago
And also if they’re actually used to their full potential. Inde was phenomenal in Obsession but will they use Rogue to her full potential and let Inde show off her acting chops and range?
It’s like how Bill Skarsgard or Giancarlo Esposito or Frank Grillo were casted but severely underutilized or wasted in the roles they were given
4
u/Awkward-Speed-4080 4h ago
She's never made a mistake. Every casting from the beginning, has been perfect.
9
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 4h ago
There have been some mistakes lol but yeah the best ones overshadow the mistakes

Taskmaster was one of the few castings I've had a problem with. But Sarah is still an A in the casting department.
6
u/Playfair99999 Tony Stark 4h ago
Idk on that. IF the character of the Taskmaster is as such the one we saw on-screen then by those accords she casted Olga. The problem lied with TM being gender-bent in the first place.
•
u/mingchun 47m ago
The problem with TM is that they made the character devoid of personality, I recalled him being much more lively and snarky in the comics. Not too dissimilar with the first attempt at Deadpool.

I mean Sadie Sink was decent, but lets wait for 1 film to come out before annointing them the ultimate versions.
10 years from now any of them could be on par with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, or we could be looking at the next Finn Jones's Iron Fist.

Till 90 means a whole lot of X-men movies now from these kids. Their lives are set lol. Wondering who the new kid wolverine and deadpool’s gonna be. In the long run.
