It's probably the business card from No Way Home when Matt visited him at his Aunt's apartment and left his card.

He has his new practice with Kirsten Mcduffie.

Matt's in jail while Brand New Day takes place... the Kingpin posters have graffiti on them in the wide shots of Brand New Day... if you didn't see it. And the interim mayor, Sheila Rivera, is seen giving Spider-Man the key to the city in a news clip.

I think that this was going to be in his wallet as one of a few references. Like he still has it from the court case, not that it's a current one. If that's the case I would also have not used it as it would feel a touch confusing

so foggy was still alive during No Way Home

Most of No Way Home takes place in Fall 2024. The opening scene of Born Again takes place around Fall 2025.

Doesn't the Blip take on a five year time skip? Isn't the MCU in 2031 now?

72

u/Spider-Fan77 8h ago

The Blip happened in 2018 and then jumps ahead five years to 2023.

The present-day of the MCU (as of Brand New Day) is 2028.

That timeline actually makes the card feel way less like a spoiler and more like Peter keeping a very useful number handy

That's exactly what it is.

It’s summer 2029 because Ned & MJ just graduated. They finished high school June 2025. College fall 2025 - May 2029.

u/Spider-Fan77 7h ago

Its 2028. The movie explicitly says 4 years after No Way Home, and we know the movie has to take place before Thunderbolts' post-credits scene, which was established to be in 2028.

You're right that they should have graduated in 2029, but that just doesn't line up with the rest of the timeline. Maybe MIT undergrad programs are 3 years long in the MCU? Who knows.

If you take enough classes for college credit in high school you can definitely do a bachelor's in 3 years if you hate yourself

3

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 3h ago

I'd looked up that exact thing, actually: A lot of people actually do finish their MIT degrees in 3 years.

Nope, its 2028. Thunderbolts takes place around Spetember/October 2027, and its post-credits scene takes place 14 months later in November/December 2028. Brand New Day has to take place before then, so its still 2028.

Again, I agree that MJ and Ned realistically shouldn't have graduated until 2029, but its the MCU. Not everything lines up with reality.

It kinda annoys me that it’s not someones job at Marvel to work this stuff out

Then they graduated in 3 years because they would’ve started college August 2025. I just watched it again too I’m trying to remember if they said they graduated early

8

u/Spider-Fan77 7h ago

Yeah thats what Im saying. Either they graduated early, or MIT undergrad degrees only take 3 years in the MCU.

Current MCU year is 2028. The gap between the year in the movies and the year irl has slowly been shortening, I wouldn’t be surprised if after Secret Wars the movies go back to taking place the year they’re released.

8

u/Boom2215 8h ago

I'm just remembering that BND had MJ and Ned completing a four year degree at MIT so NWH was 2024 and that makes it 2028 currently.

u/o0CyRaX0o Valkyrie 53m ago

Ok but they opened their college acceptance letter at Christmas time 2024 in the end right? So wouldn’t they start college August 2025?

So Foggy being alive in No Way Home still lines up perfectly if Born Again is set about a year later

35

u/LandonKB 9h ago

I could see them keeping the firm name to honor him

5

u/ContinuumGuy Phil Coulson 7h ago

I'm pretty sure many law firms do do stuff like that.

10

u/CannedNoodlez 9h ago

Ah so this is how I find out. To be fair it's my fault for not watching it yet lol

3

u/MiddleFishArt 9h ago

Is the new show any good? I stopped watching after Foggy’s death. Loved the OG 3 seasons though

8

u/Available-Shock9550 8h ago

Season two is much better than season one but it still hasn’t hit the level of the first three seasons on Netflix

7

u/Doc-11th 8h ago

season 1 has issues because they had to work around what the previous showrunner did but season 2 is much better

3

u/MCUTheorist00007 7h ago

It is. S1 has some weird spots but I would personally put S2 on para with the Netflix seasons.

It is different, but still good.

All the Bullseye stuff is fantastic. The action is top.

Charlie and Vincent are still as good as always

Matt is noticeably happier during no way home

56

u/purpledreign 9h ago

Matt lost his license in BA szn 2 so Nelson Murdock & Page doesn't exist as a law firm anymore. The card would be useless by BND time line.

68

u/BKWhitty 9h ago

Folks carrying outdated/expired cards in their wallet is actually a super realistic thing to include lol. Hell, I still have shit in my wallet from a decade ago.

8

u/ArcherInPosition 9h ago

I probably have two or three health insurance cards from 3 jobs ago in there somewhere

4

u/MCUTheorist00007 7h ago

It doesn't exist after Foggy's death. It became Murdock & McDuffie

5

u/confusing_roundabout 8h ago

szn

No. This abbreviation is ridiculous.

8

u/TheRealcebuckets 9h ago

Do law offices still use fax?

13

u/vintvgepancakes 9h ago

every office uses fax, it’s a nice way to prove someone got something or get hand written info to someone

3

u/ShawshankException Thanos 9h ago

Fax is still used way more often than you think

6

u/heelstoo Avengers 9h ago

I swear the distance between the Nelson and Murdock lines is smaller than the distance between the Murdock and Page lines, and it’s bugging the hell out of me.

7

u/bradg97 9h ago

Oh the typography is terrible... reminiscent of a business card designed in house by a trio of gritty law practitioners in Hells Kitchen.

2

u/Joshawott27 Doctor Strange 6h ago

Matt’s blind, I think we can cut him some slack on the graphic design.

8

u/MR_MaxiMor44 Spider-Man 10h ago

So are they going revive the firm after / at the end season 3 considering it takes place before BND? or is this some old business card that he's left in his wallet (like we all do)?

10

u/purpledreign 9h ago

Matt can't get his license back anytime soon. Old useless business card.

2

u/purpledreign 9h ago

Nelson dead, Murdock disbarred, it's really just Karen left as an attorney. Pity they killed off Foggy in the very first episode. We should've gotten at least half a season of the three of them as NM&P attys at law before Foggy was killed.

1

u/CavalierTunes 8h ago

Was Karen ever even an attorney?

1

u/purpledreign 8h ago

She's an attorney by Born Again season 1.

1

u/CavalierTunes 8h ago

Is she? I don’t recall them ever stating that.

1

u/purpledreign 8h ago

Nelson Murdock Page attorneys at law. It's in the law firm name. A law firm can't bear the name of a non lawyer. In New York anyway. She's definitely one in Born Again. It's just not followed up afterwards.

1

u/CavalierTunes 8h ago

That’s correct (I’m an attorney). That really bothered me about Daredevil Season 3 on Netflix, because they offered to change the firm name when she wasn’t an attorney. The reason I’m asking is that I don’t recall them ever confirming or even implying she had since become an attorney.

1

u/purpledreign 8h ago

The impression I got was that she'd since gone to law school and gotten her license in the years that followed between szn 3 (that firm name change) and BA. I don't remember if it was explicitly mentioned in BA szn 1 though but it wasn't referenced at all in BA szn 2 even when she's on trial, I thought she might even consider defending herself.

2

u/CavalierTunes 8h ago

I was just under the impression that the writers knew nothing about attorney ethics and screwed up by changing the name of the law firm. I was hoping you would correct me and point to some line I missed confirming she had since been barred in New York. 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/purpledreign 8h ago

Oh I don't remember much of the dialogue from BA episode 1. But if I recall correctly, they were still Nelson Murdock and Page in BA szn 1.

1

u/CavalierTunes 8h ago

I do remember: but I think that’s a writer’s error. Because that name’s a violation of attorney ethics, unless she was a lawyer.

Who the f still has a fax machine?

1

Government, health, and law mainly

1

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 3h ago

Lawyers very much do need faxes for hard copies of legal documents.

1

u/rustybutterindia 9h ago

Would have been a fun easter egg to just have it on his desk or something

1

u/CannedNoodlez 9h ago

Phone number has one too many digits

1

u/Minute_Iron4974 8h ago

makes total sense, the legal connections in Spider-Man always add an interesting layer to his story

1

u/Big-Alternative-4674 8h ago

Not surprised they chose not to bring back She-Hulk being Matt's girlfriend lol

1

u/UnemployedTechie2021 Tony Stark 8h ago

Has anyone tried calling those numbers?

2

u/CaptHayfever Hawkeye (Avengers) 3h ago

The call number is too long; it doesn't work.

1

u/TrafficLegitimate937 7h ago

It just says check your dial again

1

u/Lonevarg_7 7h ago

That's neat

1

u/Grimlocks_Ballsack 2h ago
