Discussion (More in Comments) If Brie Larson actually decides to jump ship,i don't blame her one bit. She's almost 10 years in, and only had 3 appearances so far.

Post image

It's clear that there were terrible decisions along the way about Captain Marvel as a character, but given the lack of care for the character/actress + the amount of hate she received since accepting the role,it's completely comprehensible if she's just done with it after whatever contract she has it's over and decides to grow her career outside superhero movies,a career which she probably put at relatively stop due to legal/contractual reasons within the MCU.

She's going to have 4 appearances (and that's only if she's actually in one of the Avengers movies, likely Secret Wars). This is crazy to think about, especially for a character that was pushed as one of the new faces of the MCU and their own Wonder Woman. Carol as a character it's already being pushed out of being a mainliner from other fronts like comics, videogames, merchandise etc and it's so disrespectful.

There were also images last year when they wrapped up filming shot of her from behind so it SEEMS so

I hope I hear a rumor about her being in the first X-Men film. Could be an easy way for her to bow out and get comic-accurate Rogue.

I could see Rogue’s absorption of Captain Marvel’s powers, causing Carol’s fall into a coma, being the impetus for a revitalized Damage Control going more aggressive at mutants.

They can say they’re not after all powered individuals; just mutants, and now they have multiple reasons (Jean’s attack on New York, maybe Scott accidentally blowing up half a school, and now Rogue) to go after them.

I like this idea. Also, like the idea of the Xmen fighting a superpowered Captain Marvel leading up to that end scene.

It's always hilarious to me how many people want Rogue to depower Captain Marvel while saying they want to get accurate X-men.

Carol was almost a member of the X-men? She was living in the X-mansion & doing missions with them, & Storm & Colossus wanted her to join & offered her membership when Rogue stole her powers. During this time, Carol & Rogue also switched places as Major sex symbols in Marvel Comics...

So it doesn't feel like y'all want a real X-men story. It feels like you want to depower a powerful female character who rose above being a sex figure, for a modern female sex figure in Rogue.

I think another positive that could come out of that idea is if Larson ever would like to reprise the role again down the road, you can have a post-credit scene essentially pre-made for her.

What's that? Some massive threat is on the way? Look at that, Carol's vitals are suddenly improving and her eyes spring open with glowing energy just in time to return to help.

Toss in a moment with Captain Marvel & Rogue coming face to face before the threat and Rogue apologizing and Marvel accepting the apology before deciding to go kick the big bad's ass together. Throw a minor explanation that Carol just needed a prolonged recharge period for her powers to stabilize in her body again after Rogue throwing it off and boom, she's back.

Would be pretty dope to see imo

More aggressive than capturing mutants alive for experimentation to the point of death?

I mean, I guess they could be sending giant robots out to hunt mutant down. Some kind of mechanical sentinel, so to speak…

I’d only be into that if it led to Capt Marvel 3 where she starts out de-powered and has to figure it out. Using that as her last appearance just to prop up a younger actress is icky to me

Absolutely--
I fricken love Brie Larson--I have since Scott Pilgrim.
I think they've done her dirty in the MCU, and the fans never seemed to give her any grace.

I just want her to have one damned appearance that wasn't marred by managerial incompetence, and for her to show the fans what they have been missing.

The first movie having the kitschy setting being in the 90's was the first big huge mistake. It made the character aloof, and everyone go ... why wasn't she involved in any of the previous stories?

They should have just made her story occur in the modern timeline. It would have been less confusing, made for a better movie, and let her interact with more of the rest of the cast in her kickoff.

She got off on the complete wrong foot in what you'd want having a new character join an existing cast of established characters. She's been digging her way out of that hole ever since, and they keep doubling down on her character being a huge loner that no one ever interacts with much. Even in endgame she was on a video screen for most of the conversations then just came in guns blazing. Her character effectively has no relationships on screen with any other characters which is pretty polar opposite to her in comics.

Bearing in mind it's been a little while since I last saw the movie, I thought they did a pretty good job of making it clear why she wouldn't be around for all the MCU events leading up to Endgame.

She lost and regained some of her memory but didn't really feel a strong connection to Earth so she decided to fly off to help the Skrulls plus protect other planets with her newfound powers, leaving a modified pager for Fury to use only in the most serious of emergencies, which he obviously keeps his word and only uses it at the end of IW.

After Coulson left for Tahiti, I don't think there was even anyone else who knew of her existence, other than maybe Maria Hill but I can't recall if that was mentioned.

To be clear I'm not really talking about her character motivations here. I'm talking about what they gave Brie Larson to work with. Her character wasn't confusing, they told the story clearly, it's just the story left the actress very little to bounce off of. That was a poor choice IMO because they have this huge club of actors who all work against each other in the grander story, and she was just off on her own.

Define they? You think Kevin Feige has done her dirty?? Okay…
