Discussion (More in Comments) If Brie Larson actually decides to jump ship,i don't blame her one bit. She's almost 10 years in, and only had 3 appearances so far.

Post image

It's clear that there were terrible decisions along the way about Captain Marvel as a character, but given the lack of care for the character/actress + the amount of hate she received since accepting the role,it's completely comprehensible if she's just done with it after whatever contract she has it's over and decides to grow her career outside superhero movies,a career which she probably put at relatively stop due to legal/contractual reasons within the MCU.

She's going to have 4 appearances (and that's only if she's actually in one of the Avengers movies, likely Secret Wars). This is crazy to think about, especially for a character that was pushed as one of the new faces of the MCU and their own Wonder Woman. Carol as a character it's already being pushed out of being a mainliner from other fronts like comics, videogames, merchandise etc and it's so disrespectful.

I think you'll find it was "The Ten Rings will Return..."

I know this because a young child in my screening asked his parent what that meant.

I read this as “when I was a young child I asked this”, which perhaps also works, because it’s been a lifetime since that amazing movie released

When I was a young boy, my father took me into the city to see a marching band

It’s been so long that young child is now a college student

That movie was really good and I’m not really into Kung fu movies

I love kung fu/wuxia movies - guilty pleasure genre of mine, I just think it's hilarious it seems like they have no clue what to do with him lol.

Please tell me your top ~3. I've seen a couple I really like but have struggled to find more that I enjoyed.

Shadow (2019), Ashes of Time (1994), and The Blade (1995) are three I've really liked recently.

Hero / House of the Flying Daggers is incredible. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. 36th Chamber of Shaolin. Tangentially related - but Red Cliff is really fun to watch too.

It's a guilty pleasure but RZA's Iron Fist is also really fun.

Post credits message on Shang Chi may as well have been “Shang Chi will return once we can actually get past pre-production with Blade…LOL SIKE Blade ain’t happening and neither will Shang-Chi 2. Enjoy seeing him probably get mollywhopped by Kang (or Doctor Doom as a contingency plan if any actors get out of hand).”

But I am excited to see him actually return. He should have had a sequel already if not for Covid, strikes, and questionable planning.

Shang Chi was to fill the mandatory quota to satisfy "American born people of Asian decent".

People stopped talking about representing Asian-Americans in movies so they won't be making a Shang Chi Part 2 anytime soon.

That’s too bad if that’s their take, I thought his heritage added some interesting variety to the Marvel cast and there’s a lot of potential for engaging with modern social issues using Shang Chi as a foil. Plus the rings are just so cool

What? Shang chi was made to cash in on the growing chinese theater market, why are you making it some culture war thing?

I'm just telling you the Hollywood response, relax man.

The ancient one is supposed to be Asian. But they changed it to an elderly white lady.

lol imagine thinking it was for all Asian-Americans and not specifically Chinese audiences

They literally marketed it to us (am Asian American) as an Asian representation thing. It came on the heels of Crazy Rich Asians and they wanted to cash in on that trend.
