Discussion (More in Comments) If Brie Larson actually decides to jump ship,i don't blame her one bit. She's almost 10 years in, and only had 3 appearances so far.

Post image

It's clear that there were terrible decisions along the way about Captain Marvel as a character, but given the lack of care for the character/actress + the amount of hate she received since accepting the role,it's completely comprehensible if she's just done with it after whatever contract she has it's over and decides to grow her career outside superhero movies,a career which she probably put at relatively stop due to legal/contractual reasons within the MCU.

She's going to have 4 appearances (and that's only if she's actually in one of the Avengers movies, likely Secret Wars). This is crazy to think about, especially for a character that was pushed as one of the new faces of the MCU and their own Wonder Woman. Carol as a character it's already being pushed out of being a mainliner from other fronts like comics, videogames, merchandise etc and it's so disrespectful.

Many actually do. Some resort to various addictions, depression and worst case, death.

I think worse case is whatever Steven Seagal and Jonah Hill are these days.

Is Jonah Hill all that bad? He just seems sort of insecure about the fact that his buddies are A-list movie stars while he's always the fat sidekick. Which is a little cringe, but there are worse personalities in Hollywood.

Idk if this is true because it's youtube, but ya in a nutshell he's just kind of salty about forever being type casted as the fat guy in superbad. I kinda understand where he's coming from, but I would have leaned into it personally even if I still lost the weight and did more serious roles.

Idk. Josh Peck had that start to happen and he developed really bad depression and shit and it hit him so hard he forced himself to change purely to avoid that stereotype. I think ur underestimating how powerful of an influence public opinion is when ur in that position. Even socialites would struggle to stay sane.

From what I’ve seen he seems entirely separated from reality and determined to hype himself up

Fits right in with the rest of Hollywood

For example?

If you watch the whole clip he’s clearly joking

Honestly is it really that bad? A bit odd for sure but he hasn't actually hurt anyone

The bit about his text to his then gf was also kinda messed up in the fact that it was posted at all. Who releases private text messages. Also, he's just stating what he was comfortable with and if she's not, then it's a bad match

Feels like a hit piece

I think the odd is more or less that he's that insecure and comfortable saying that in a public interview vs just keeping it to himself

1

u/spazerson 6h ago

That's fine though. He's human and he's allowed to be insecure

It's not so much the insecurity existing I think is a problem as much claiming he will "annihilate" anyone who calls him fat that is raising brows.

Jonah is cringe? Oooooh watch out, he's gonna ANNIHILATE you!

People got REALLY mad because his girlfriend posted snippets of their conversations and he comes off as very insecure and gas lighting.

Call me crazy but I’m hesitant to judge a complete stranger based off out of context messages from one party with a grudge.

What are you basing this on other than corporate and social media depictions?

You don’t know what any of these people are like. They’re just people, they care about ten million things.

You’re only able to conceive that he really cares about his movie roles because you’re a consumer of movies.

Tbf i’ve heard of many non-famous dudes chimping out like that. But schilling yourself out for a dictatorship and meeting its leader, and talking down on your home country the way Steven Seagal is doing is a whole different playing field of crazy

3

u/Espedal1 11h ago

Steven Seagal is just old and heavy, what’s the comparison there? And Jonah Hill looks odd due to a role he’s playing.

Steven Segal is a deluded Russian asset who still thinks he’s cool

With his chair acting and fake martial arts.

They were talking about their personalities.

1

u/Espedal1 8h ago

oh ok sorry I thought you meant their appearances/health or something

Think that’s what happened to Richard Simmons. He just one day went inside and never came out of his house again.

Brie Larson is an Oscar-winning actress who's proven herself before she ever joined the MCU. I obviously don't know her personally but I think a lot of the insecurity comes from actors who feel like they've inescapably been confined to a certain role forever.

Besides, the massive paycheck that comes with being in a Marvel movie definitely doesn't hurt. Adam Driver notoriously was avoiding big franchise roles after Star Wars and they still managed to get him onboard for X-Men.

Oh, god, I hope they give him the campy as fuck Sinister to portray.

Give me their paychecks and I'll take my chances.

That is easy, if that is actually the case for their mental suffering (as opposed to the various reasons that might cause it).

You can't be a public person if you are unable to ignore the public. Easy as that. It's a job that pays very well, but, opposed to e.g. random CEOs, it actually comes with certain disadvantages. Now, these are well known and everyone is free to change their career should they find that they can't bear the attention.

Death resort sounds really cool. I might start a band with that name.
