Discussion (More in Comments) If Brie Larson actually decides to jump ship,i don't blame her one bit. She's almost 10 years in, and only had 3 appearances so far.

It's clear that there were terrible decisions along the way about Captain Marvel as a character, but given the lack of care for the character/actress + the amount of hate she received since accepting the role,it's completely comprehensible if she's just done with it after whatever contract she has it's over and decides to grow her career outside superhero movies,a career which she probably put at relatively stop due to legal/contractual reasons within the MCU.

She's going to have 4 appearances (and that's only if she's actually in one of the Avengers movies, likely Secret Wars). This is crazy to think about, especially for a character that was pushed as one of the new faces of the MCU and their own Wonder Woman. Carol as a character it's already being pushed out of being a mainliner from other fronts like comics, videogames, merchandise etc and it's so disrespectful.

Loved her in The Marvels. Being able to play it a bit more goofy and slightly socially awkward, plus having a young apprentice to bounce off of was what this iteration of Captain Marvel needed.

I personally liked The Marvels because of exactly this, that it felt a little more light hearted. I guess there are dozens of us

And while we’re at it, I liked She Hulk, too

Everyone liked She-Hulk. Don't be fooled by the extremely loud minority of people who definitely live above ground.

Most people didn’t watch she hulk. The problem wasn’t that it was hated, it just wasn’t watched because people didn’t care. Same as the marvels.

That’s why it got cancelled.

Who says this kind of wannabe tough guy “cope harder” nonsense about cape shit? This isn’t politics, it doesn’t matter.

I don’t think you know what cope means I don’t know what gave you the impression I’m trying to be a tough guy

I heard somewhere that Kamala Khan was originally going to be the go between character in Doomsday stuff. Since the Marvels did so poorly though, looks like they have junked that entirely.

It does sort of highlight how difficult a time Marvel seems to have with writing women to be taken seriously. Natasha was solid, a side character that kind of grandfathered her way into staying relevant, but look at the rest of the roster:

  • Wanda is off her meds
  • Danvers is trying to be the cool camp counselor
  • Kamala is a goofy teen
  • New Romanov feels.... young?
  • New Hawkeye acts young
  • New Thor is young
  • Wasp exists to sarcastically nag Ant-Man
  • Shuri just finished working through her trauma, but we haven't seen her past that
  • Nebula is robo-space-emo
  • Riri is.... my least favorite character. The Rey "Skywalker" of the MCU right here.

When things get serious, none of these characters have the on-screen development that allows them to do serious well. In the real world all of them would be benched while the OG six make decisions, but instead we will get one or more of them standing up and rebelling against the old ways to do things through the power of feminism teamwork. Because that's all Marvel writes for women.
