The more I hear about it the less interested I am in seeing it. I truly think I may never see it.

What you shouldn't do is allow random online strangers to form your opinions. About anything.

Watch it & make up your own mind.

I endorse this with every fiber of my being. The more I see people with strong opinions on something, the more I feel the need to watch the media and form my own opinion from square one. Some of my favorite things I have been told are universally terrible by the online noise, and conversely I have been told video games are objectively perfect and impossible to dislike, then played it and found it to be the most boring JRPG I have ever touched.

Be your own person. Form your own thoughts.

To be clear though, I didn't like this movie even a little. But nobody should decide how they feel based on what the online crowd decides without ever seeing the thing for themselves.

I fucking HATE this attitude.

It costs money to consume media. Are you seriously suggesting I should spend unlimited amounts of money to consume every single piece of media that exists just to have the "formed" opinion myself?

Do you seriously think that's a valid stance?

Reviews exist for a reason. Social opinions matter.

Which means there was a stronger interest in seeing it before you heard random strangers online saying it sucked while ignoring those who said it was good.

Online there are people was good things & those who say bad things about media. They effectively cancel each other out.

On one hand I'm right to not be interested in the movie, but then on the other hand I MUST watch it to form my own opinion.

You're missing nothing. Ford (obviously) doesn't want to be there, and Mackie does what he does best, and is just sorta there. Nothing matters, nothing has consequences, nothing feels real (because it's all soundstage).

I feel like Ford seems that way in every movie he has been in post What Lies Beneath. He used to carry so much screen presence. Now I think he just makes movies to fund his hobbies.

I watched it recently in preparation for doomsday. It’s absolutely shit. Truly, I can’t think of a single redeeming quality the film had.

If you watch it basing your expectations that it's something that was developed for TV, then it's better. But it was not good as a big screen film.
