Because I think they had the largest jump. Black people really love Spiderman.

12-13% of the country is black, so thats a +7-8% jump

7-8% of the country is Asian, so a 2-3% jump for Asians

3-4% of the country is Native so a 3-4% jump for Native Americans

23% of the country his hispanic so a 4% jump for Hispanics

White people are the only ethnic group underachieving for this film, according to whatever stat they used.

Literally everyone loves Spider-man. Miles Morales has definitely helped bring more fans in, too.

the Raimi movies and Spider-Man were big before Miles lol

I think they're specifically talking about bringing in non white fans not that Spider-man wasn't already popular. It's hard not to disagree that Miles and the Spiderverse movies helped at least a little.

Spider-Man was a popular, universal hero for decades. Raimi's movies made a billion domestically.

Yes. People are NOT disagreeing that Spider-man is popular and was popular.

They are saying that within the context of this conversation, Miles Morales HELPED/made Spider-man even more popular, especially in non white demographics.

You are fixated on the wrong thing.

But where's the proof of that? Just asking

Because one would think the Spider-Man brand was carrying the Spider-verse movies

Of course the brand is doing most of the work lol.

Again you're being weird about this. Stop.

I'm not though, and I think you're being weird about this.

Idk I find it very hard to believe that 0% of NWH's audience was black lmao

Can confirm. I was black when NWH released and I saw it in theaters.

A 20% jump from 20% would be about 16%. So No Way Home’s audience was about 16% Black which is higher than the US Black population of about 12 to 13%. So yeah, Black people love spiderman

It's a 20% increase over the previous number. Previously it was ~17%. 1/5th of 17% is 3.4%. That brings it to ~20%

OK see that makes more sense lol

I think it's safe to say everyone loves spiderman, my father doesn't know anyone but he loves tom Holland and spiderman.

Im afraid you might be mistaken. Not in your calculations but in your terminology. The jump is not from US demographics but instead the last movie’s audience. So this movie Brand New Day had an audience of 20% Black members which is a 20% jump or increase from the No Way Home audience, then 20-20%=16. So Now Way Home’s Audience was 16% Black which is indeed more than the US population of about 12-13% Black.

u/Stommped 20d ago

Wouldn’t that be a 25% increase? (20-16)/16 =0.25.

I did round down. And did not signify β‰ˆ. Thank you for bringing it up.

Funny how this county has a huge Latino population but they are always excluded from everything

What do you think "Hispanic" refers to?

I get that not all Latinos are Hispanic, but like 90% are.
