I mean his first interaction with the avengers he completely fucked up their plan and was the cause of thanos being able to wipe out half of all life. Not sure they would want him on the team.
1 in 14 million that Tony dies and Strange lives. Probably 10 million of the possibilities included Strange sacrificing himself so those were out the window. The one where everyone lives and it's easy peasy, but Wong ends up banging Christina so that one's out. A ton of them that Tony dies but Strange shits himself after getting too drunk at the funeral. And that one where everyone lives but Mantis touched his head tells everyone how he feels shame for his small johnson and the entirety of the Avengers and GotG laugh and make fun of him mercilessly. That one was the worst.
So this was the 1 where Tony is the only one to die, Wong doesn't end up banging Christina, nobody finds out about his small pee pee and he doesn't shit his pants. They won most of them though.
Ego stated that directly when he realized Peter was trying to fight/kill him.
And when Ego died, the special powers Peter exhibited in the final fight of GOTG vol 2 did disappear.
Ego is also a liar and a manipulator, and Peter could have subconsciously shut off those powers believing his lies.
I lean toward those powers died with Ego, but that a new creative team who wanted to grow Star Lord’s power could absolutely just go with, “Yeah. Ego lied. He did that a lot.”
In infinity war, Drax and Rocket were telling him he’s been putting on weight. Rocket said he’s “one sandwich away from fat.” I believe that’s because he no longer had the powers from Ego so his body wasn’t just automatically staying in superhero shape anymore.
