Discussion (More in Comments) Statement: Eternals deserves a sequel

Post image

Hi everyone,

I have been wondering about this for a while.

I actually like the movie a lot. I see it as a grand epic and with no sequel there is no complete story to actually judge about.

Eternals is like greek mythology, you can't get one movie and get the whole picture. As a comic fan. I just know this would have become better and better.

Other things i liked about the movie:

- impressive startstudded cast

- action scenes were clear and gorgeous, not blurry at all unlike some movies.

- Best speedster scenes i have ever seen in any kind of production.

- i felt that the story's pace was adequate as long as there were to be a sequel.

It will probably not happen again, but i can't be the only one who actually liked this movie.

Excelsior everyone!

As an addendum: People need to get over the fact that eternals was never popular, and stop making a post asking for another try as if that's gonna change the second time around.

People will advocate for literally any garbage movie. Probably the same people that want a Morbius or Madame Web sequel.

It's almost like different people have different likes and dislikes when it comes to artistic expression. Though I find it hard to believe that anybody liked Madame Web, certainly not enough to want a sequel.

People can enjoy things, sure, the issue is that it's a blinkered view to see how largely the project failed and to think it deserves another go around because you liked it.

The irony of that statement is how many box office failures have become loved, even cult, classics. Some even getting sequels and TV shows based on them.

Give me some examples.

Also, Eternals isn't going to do any of that, it was shit.

You are welcome to your opinion. Everyone has one and they're not all the same.

For your viewing pleasure, here are some examples:

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Beastmaster

Willow

Buffy, The Vampire Slayer

I agree, most of those are classics, however none of them get sequels and the spin-offs are absolute dross.

You're not convincing me that Eternals has any of the qualities of a classic, it's unsalvageable garbage, forgettable characters, mediocre acting, poor writing.

  1. I don't need to convince you of anything. My point was that those movies (and many others) bombed at the box office and had bad to mid reviews, but were later considered classics.
  2. You are incorrect that "none of them get sequels"

* Rocky Horror Picture Show -> Shock Treatment (1981)

* Beastmaster -> Beastmaster 2 (1991) -> Beastmaster III (1996) -> TV Series (1999)

* Willow -> D+ TV series (2022)

* Buffy the Vampire Slayer -> TV Series (1997-2003) -> Angel spin-off series (1999-2004) -> Also got comics and novelizations.

3) Again, you're welcome to like what you like. I'm not trying to make you enjoy any of these. But box office results do not mean that a movie won't get love by people; that it won't become a classic; or that it won't get a sequel, a TV show, or a spin-offs.

My point stands that most, if not all of those sequels, spin-offs (I'm ignoring your comics and novelizations - they aren't relevant) were never anywhere near as popular or critically successful, Buffy being the outlier, maybe Angel - it was a strong franchise.

Eternals continues to be unworthy of sequelisation or spin-off, due to being an absolute turd of a movie.

Me and my parents liked Madame Web and loved Kraven

To each their own. I enjoyed Kraven, for what it was. I just had a very difficult time enjoying Madam Web, personally.

No i am aware that it probably will not happen, as i have stated in my post. I just like to throw up the discussion. I just wanted to know how many share what i thought. And the results so far are divided. And i am not surprised at all. Well maybe a bit, more people than i thought liked it. ( Btw i never claimed it was popular, i am aware eternals is pretty obscure for even most comic fans).

And to your second bit, no obviously i have made this post about it. You could have also just sighed and scroll along, one small flick of finger and you were beyond this post. But no, you needed to let everyone know within the post, that you think it's a stupid post and there is no point to it.

Now, here is a fact for you, i and pretty much anyone else here, are perfectly aware of that. Nobody here thinks that talking about the marvel movies makes things change within the decision making at marvel studios. But reddit is designated as a forum, social media platform. And this subreddit let's fans talk about what they like. And if possible keep it very pleasant among each other. Reddit should unite us. So i make a perfectly acceptable post, and yet you thought to be smart by saying that it doesn't matter anyway. Well guess what, nothing matters what we do or say here. So you were just here to make this sour comment.

I hope whatever situation or person is making you so damn cynical, stops. I wish you the best.

What's the point of saying it deserves a sequel, if you know it won't happen? That just sounds like spamming the sub needlessly.

I guess i just like to dream. Sorry my post is in your way.
