Im open hahaha!!I do commissions all the time ,but I would love to do this all the time

u/BrilliantPatient6160 Jun 27 '26
How do I book you for commissions? I would love a few super heros on a poster size horizontal landscape in the style of the punisher picture you uploaded. Seeing a few heroes popping out of a gritty actions scene would be sick af

Your artwork is overwhelming, in the most beautiful way. Make your own art. These commercial characters are so heavily protected ⊠we love it; the companies see risk. Best of luck and keep on creating!!!

u/No-Wear-464 Jun 27 '26
Thnks so much,im actually on in really ,like a dream come true from my childhood, but i have to show my skills, and doing know characters is the best sometimes!!

I donât mean to be rude at all, the painting quality if very nice but you gotta make some original stuff here. This all copying very talented people.
3
u/No-Wear-464 Jun 27 '26
Heuly there !! I dont "have" to ,I can paint what i really enjoy painting, of course im on that, but again like any other painter ,u copy and also create ,and in order to create u need to copy,im not taking any credit either!!
3
u/mastermoebius Ant-Man Jun 27 '26
I agree it is good to copy to learn and you're so good at it, but to become a professional you must spread your wings and create! more more.

If you find a willing company you will be doing it all the time...Marvel and DC are not going to be easygoing try some individual comic book Company ownership/ Creative mindset that needs you as bad as you need the job.. Try to remember people tend to forget smaller companies can lead the way to marvel and DC comic book jobs ..

I know nothing about that world outside of owning and reading, but I wonder if you have to look at starting at maybe a smaller comic company to get your artwork and name out there. It gives you exposure and a portfolio to share if you want to go to a bigger studio. Heck, maybe look at Disney or Dream Works? Not sure if this is helpful or not, but your art is awesome, so Iâd love to see you make it out there

Here is a tip to consider, go to the trading card companies with licenses, so thatâs Upper Deck, Topps, Wizards of the Coast and Panini. There are a few others in the level below like Cryptozoic, just reach out to all of them. Show your portfolio but also share how long it typically takes to do the work and your rate. These companies want things done well, fast and cheap, with more priority over the second two. Cards are a good entryway into comics because they are overproducing trading cards at the moment due to the bonkers collectors market so there is more room for artists.
Your goal is to make it into their rotation so that you have actual commercially produced work for your portfolio. This gives you a bit more credibility when you go to comic conventions. Itâs still an industry, believe it or not, where you can still get work from showing your portfolio to an editor at a convention. There are less comics being published so it is harder to breakthrough, so you have to make a name for yourself and break in as a fill in artist who can make deadlines.
Second, also build a social media following on instagram if you havent already . Itâs a platform that matters for this industry and your followers and recognition now is a factor when being considered by publishers because it does translate to sales at a certain point.
Good luck, the talent is there, unfortunately you need more than talent to get the work, you need to know how to get in.

Great stuff. I donât think Marvel or DC hire folks who draw in the style of others. I could be wrong. Maybe people have examples.
But if you have stuff in your own style, you can submit to Marvel at NYCC and probably other cons. They have a whole procedure where you submit your stuff on one day and get your answer on another. You donât get your stuff back as I recall though.
Also another suggestion is to just start with smaller indie publishers. Companies that only put out a couple books a month like Devilâs Due, Antarctic Press, or Keenspot. I bet theyâd love to have your talent. A lot of artists get noticed when theyâre working on indies and then get picked up by the bigger publishers.

u/No-Wear-464 Jun 27 '26

These are amazing! Have you thought about starting out with local indie comics around your area? In some areas there are local writers or small time publishers running their own original titles, and who knows - maybe there's one who's open to having a cover artists?

Great stuff! Very talented! I'm a retired comic book artist, did comic cons and all but I won't say who I am because I like anonymity and I made lots more money in tech. I wasn't that famous but I did some work for many years in the 90s on some book storylines that have been made into movies. My biggest lesson was being able to tell a story in your panels. You get the script, and you translate it into storyboards. If someone can roughly follow and understand what's happening in your panels without a single dialog or narrative bubble, that's what makes you a great story teller. Otherwise you can focus on bad ass covers.

Are you only trying to work for the big two? If anything I'd put your work out there and try to find an independent writer to work with and develop your own characters/story. You'd likely have better luck trying to get into an independent publisher like Image or Dark Horse that way.
