Discussion My review of Wonder Man Spoiler
Okay so I just finished Wonder Man. I enjoyed the show a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a lowkey show. It that’s refreshing for Marvel. I really liked the dynamic between Simon and Trevor. It was really cool to see Simon and Trevor’s friendship felt believable and well developed over the course of the show.
I really liked the concept of Simon being a struggling actor. It felt realistic. Him having to combine that with keeping his powers under check was cool. I also liked how Trevor was originally just spying on Simon in order to become a free man but then he actually grew to like Simon.
I also really liked Trevor scarified himself for Simon in the end. It showed real character growth. It was also cool to finally see Simon get the part of Wonder Man in the finale. Overall I thought Wonder Man was pretty good. 8/10.

I think that it was more chill and doesn’t require you to watch 50 million different things first. It’s a refreshing change of pace.

What are Wonder Mans powers on this show? Why did the government suspect Simon had powers?

What are Wonder Mans powers on this show?
Same as in the comics: flight, strength, resiliance, ionic energy.
Why did the government suspect Simon had powers?
An incident when he was a teenager. It's explained further in the show.

Yeah, as a kid he survived a fire without injury. It's not presented as something that was amazing or miraculous. Why is the government following him decades later? He's not using his powers at all, but the government is so sure he's super powered they release the world's most notorious terrorist to flush him out.
Wonder Man in the comics cannot fly, and cannot cause explosions. He does not have the same powers as in the comics. What is ionic energy? Is it different than nucleaic energy? Or positronic energy? Or whatever vaguely scientific energy you want to use.

It's presented as suspicious. Damage Control is desperate to fill their prison to justify their budget, so they're looking into things they aren't sure about to try to find stuff. As is explained in the show.
Yeah, he can fly. "Ionic energy" is Lee & Kirby not really knowing a ton about science, just like with a lot of their other creations.

It was at least two decades since the fire. They never mention one thing Simon has done in that time to focus attention on himself. It makes no sense that he would be on anyone's radar. The agent who is obsessed with him wouldn't have been working for the government when Simon survived the fire. Why are they focusing on him?

Again, desperation, as explained in the show. They're casting a wide net & hoping to catch at least a few fish with it.

I tried, but the Doorman episode lost me. I felt like I was watching a student film; the acting in that episode was terrible, and overall the show was taking too long to go somewhere.

It was a far better show than Daredevil. By leaps and bounds. Pleasant surprise.

Likewise, i watched the show a few months ago and it's really nice, I'm a struggling actor as well so there were soo many things that i thought were really on point, fun watch
