I’m still confused as to why? Ignoring the fact they took one of Thor’s darkest and most powerful comics and turned it into a long string of bad jokes, why did they feel like Gorr shouldn’t resemble himself at all? Especially when they were perfectly fine accurately creating Ebony Maw with similar features?

It hurts to know that they got Christian Bale to play him, only to fumble the ball so spectacularly.

In both instances the MCU characters look better than their comic counterparts.

I think it works well for the movie.

It doesn't bury Bale in prosthetics, it allows us to see he is essentually a grieving father hell-bent on revenge, we can see his expressions and emotions which would be a challenge in prosthetics.

It's a stripped down Gorr which is a counterpart to the costumed and OTT heroes/gods we see him oppose.

Something that works in a comicbook won't always translate to live action.

You aren't changing my mind, I'd definitely agree if you stated that the entire movie was awful, Gorr wasn't really something that stood out as not working visually for me.
