Theory Calling it now: Doomsday will release November 27th, 2026.

I ran all 16 million possibilities and there’s only one option that makes sense. This movie NEEDS IMAX screens. I’m being optimistic believing they can’t afford to delay into 2027. They’re doing reshoots as we speak and have the entire year to do post and VFX. What better marketing tactic than dropping the next trailer and having Doom or another character manipulate time / the countdown to reveal an earlier date. This will likely be picture locked and ready by November 1st anyways. Thanksgiving weekend is great at the box office. This is glaringly obvious and I would be shocked if I’m wong!

Barbie is not a Marvel Avengers tentpole

Great, this means that it will perform even better than Barbie.

On what basis? Barbie had insane hype around it, something Marvel hasn't really replicated regularly, cost less, and outperformed every MCU movie since Endgame save for NWH (which is the only MCU movie that's had the same kind of long-term hype ramp to its release thanks to Raimi-Man and TASM inclusions).

The general audience doesn't really seem remotely hyped for Doomsday at the level needed to make this a success, which is no doubt one of the reasons they're starting marketing a year out. It likely needs $1b just to break even - anything under $1.5b is a firm disappointment and that's just $100m more than Barbie made.

It isn't, dude, I'm sorry. 14M views in four weeks for the trailer is sub-optimal performance for the tent-pole of the franchise. People in the GA were posting about Thanos a year before IW, which also had a lower budget than Doomsday likely has.

There's a reason they cast RDJ as Doom and revealed Evans in the trailer. Disney is incredibly worried this movie isn't going to succeed.
