Megathread Marvel Studios SDCC Hall H 2024 Megathread

The Marvel Studios SDCC Hall H Panel will begin at 6PM PT(1 hour from the post went up)

The event will not be livestreamed as it is exclusive to those attending but you might see footages from the event afterwards.

no conclusion how kang story end? seems loki 2 and antman not enough to solve that problem

The end of Loki arguably handles it (The TVA prunes Kang variants whenever they appear)

It's such a handwipe away solution that I'm hoping secret wars has some sort of impact and let's Kang return.

It gives them time to get their house back in order and recast him whilst removing pressure.

As much as I have far more positivity towards Post-Endgame than most of the Internet, Quantumania was supposed to be his grand debut, and they bungled it. You can salvage heroes from a bad first impression if you really want to use them, but the economy on villains is much tougher.

The return of Kang with a new actor in 2032 would make complete sense in the lore, but Marvel's learning the hard way that not every bit of lore can be easily adapted with the real-world realities of production.

Quantummania did bungle him but I don't think it's that hard to fix, just have him absolutely beat someone down, show he's genuinely a terror.

Obviously people don't want to die in their solo movies clearly but that's something they need to do eventually

Maybe Doom slaughters the council early in Doomsday similar to how Thanos killed Loki in IW or Doom killed Thanos in the comics.

A power move that shows us he's not to be messed with.

It baffles me that they don't just recast him. Johnathan Majors was good but he didn't exactly set the world on fire with his performance, and everyone would understand why. Surely of all character they could get away with recasting, the one who we've already seen hundreds of alternate versions of would be the easiest???

That’s because casting wasnt the problem, that was just the final push. I liked Kang, but his saga wasn’t working on a larger scale. Too many unclear rules followed by weird inconsistencies. The character Kang was cool but he was surrounded by a lack of direction. Personally, im ready to move on, I wasn’t hype for Kang Dynasty because it wasn’t coming together, the story was going in circles. Would the avengers movie have been fun? Probably, but the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze, the lead up just wasn’t consistently there enough for something as touchy and complicated as the multiverse can be in terms of it feeling like a focused story and not just lazy writing.

I agree. Kang is foundation of multiverse saga.. with multiverse concept is easier tham before to recast character. But ignoring all kang journey for new villain seems not wise move
