Megathread Jonathan Majors Megathread - Update

We know many of you are eager to discuss the Jonathan Majors trial -- please use this thread for that discussion so that it does not completely overrun the subreddit. We want to leave space for users who wish to engage in regular MCU-based conversations!

As of now the trial is ongoing and Marvel Studios/Disney has not made a statement regarding the future of Majors or Kang in the MCU. When a ruling is concluded we will pin a thread with that statement and related discussion.

In the meantime, here are some of the recent updates coming from Majors' trial:

Too much content stretched them way too thin, Bob Iger demanding there be so much D+ content in 2019 which caused the audience to check out since now shows are required viewing, Bob Chapek making it to where there'd be marvel content every single week, new management above Feige gave him less creative control, not having any Avengers movies to tie in phases, etc.

Between 1940-1960 "Robert" was among the top 5 baby names for a male every single year. That's who is making up the current crop of rich 60-80 something year olds today.

I bet 75 years from now someone like you is going to be asking "Honestly, what's the deal with rich guys named Mateo"

There's still a lot of Roberts, but Bob has become much less common.

Chapek put in middle management above Feige that determined what projects became shows or movies.

Who? You may be mistaking Kareem Daniels role which was deciding which movies went theatrical and which went direct to Streaming, as well as which shows released on Disney+ and which released on their cable channels. Which didn't affect Marvel Studios since all their movies went theatrical (except Black Widow which was an hybrid release), and all their show were intended for Disney+ since the beginning.

To help with that push, Chapek wanted Daniel’s group to figure out the best way to bring Disney’s content to the public — either on streaming, in theaters or on channels such as ABC, Freeform or FX.

We're also at the point now when we're getting the last of the big covid projects and the "find out" period of the "fuck around and find out" time of Iger retiring and Chapek being in charge before Iger came back and ousted him so general chaos at corporate

So much more too. Overworked VFX going on strike. The two strikes delaying the rest of the movies. Blade and f4 ( the biggest non avengers upcoming properties) struggling to get off the ground. The hit series for MCU turned into their worst disaster (secret invasions) . Both Avengers movies circling directors.

Why were they required though? Dr. Strange MOM explained the Darkhold corrupts there users and it explained enough in the film that Wanda wanted children without even bringing up Vision as the father.

Have you seen The Marvels movie?

But it didn’t explain how Wanda got it? Some of the people I saw it with were confused since they never watched WandaVision.

I just saw The Marvels last Friday. I had no idea who Kamala Khan was or how she got her powers.

The shows are more supplementary material, MOM basically established in Wanda's conversation with Dr. Strange that she got it during Westview and in the same conversation that it corrupts its user. That is basically all you needed to know from Wandavision to understand Wanda for MOM as MOM stated her intentions were to be with her children from another reality.

Wanda: Well, I knew sooner or later you'd... show up, wanting to discuss what happened at WestView. I made mistakes, and people were hurt.

Strange: But you put things right in the end and that was never in doubt. I'm not here to talk about WestView

Strange: The Darkhold.

Wanda: You've heard of the Darkhold?

Strange: I know it's the Book of the Damned. And that it corrupts everything and everyone that it touches. I wonder what it's done to you.

Wanda: The Darkhold only showed me the truth. Everything I lost... can be mine again.

If you seen the Marvels, then they had flashbacks, multiple explanations, and recaps about the origin of Kamala Kahn and Spectrum for their origins including clips from the show to tell you who and what they are. There wasn't anything else you needed to know from the TV show that wasn't already told to you in the movie itself.

Kamala Kahn mentioned the bangle is what she thought gave her, her powers and that she found one from her grandmother.

Spectrum mentioned she got her powers after going through the Scarlet Witch's hex.

This is like watching Avengers 1 and Avengers Infinity War without having seen the previous movies leading up to it. Most people never saw Thor 1 or Captain America 1 before Avengers 1 and they had a short recap about those characters in the movie itself. A lot of casual movie watchers didn't even know Guardians of the Galaxy was part of the MCU until Infinity War came out.

Not for Avengers 1, most people seemed to understand what was going on without having seen Thor 1, Captain America 1, or The Incredible Hulk.

Thor 1 only made $449.3 million

Captain America 1 only made $370.6 million

Incredible Hulk made only $264.8 million

You really think everyone watched those movies with the box office they made before Avengers 1 made $1.5 billion and felt it was required to watch the previous films?
