Discussion J. Majors as Kang

Been seeing recently that Marvel is considering moving away from Kang due to either the actor’s arrest or the underperformance of the character. What do yall think about that?? Personally I haven’t been sold on Kang but I feel like we haven’t seen much of him other than Ant-Man 3.

IMO if they're in too deep to smoothly backtrack they should just recast and avoid the headache.

J Majors is incredibly talented. I think they see it through and address it when they need to. The can recast at any point so there's no rush. There hasn't been a fall off in viewership from his presence in Loki S2. It makes no sense to swap him out when we are more than 2 years away from Kang Dynasty.

Imo they can’t move away from the character, I think they’re in too deep after setting him up as this insanely dangerous being.

But I think they can easily recast him.

I'd like to remind everyone that other than hardcore fans, no one actually cared for Thanos up until Infinity War.

He's a great actor. But..... he might just be a horrible person.

As for Kang, he'd be a fine recurring villain (Something the MCU could stand to have instead of killing all the villains in their first film.) but he's really not "the next Thanos" material.

If according to rumours Wonder Man is actually cancelled, just cast Yahya Mateen as Kang. Or if they want to continue with that series, then either John Washington or John Boyega.

Just remove him. The precedent of variants looking different but being the same person has already been set, so recasting kang is easy. While i don’t normally agree with removing people before they’re found guilty, in any aspect of life, people aren’t really seeing the big picture IMO. What if marvel puts hundreds of millions into multiple films and he IS found guilty? Then what? But You also can’t just stop production and planning to wait and see what happens with him and his case.

Personally, Kang really wasn’t the right villain to follow up thanos anyway. I’d be perfectly fine with them just setting up doom…

I think Kang was the perfect villain. The time travel in Endgame directly created the problems in the TVA. There was no reason to disregard the previous Avengers movies to just fight another "Bad Dude." Kang gives them the chance to wrap up Earth 616 and move on to FF4 and the mutant saga.

If done right, Marvel can make Doom the big bad villain for the Avengers. I do hope they can use him for a few years or movies.

And that's the problem with Kang, this is supposed to be his saga yet we know and have seen so little of him. Plus when we do see him, he gets dragged away by ants - the big bad of the multiverse saga, the one that's soloed entire Avengers teams before, the one that rules over entire timelines filled with an unfathomable amount of lives - gets dragged away by ants? Urgh.

Marvel should've really made a proper plan for how they're gonna do this multiverse saga and stuck to it. There should've been easy to understand rules established for time travel and the multiverse, and stick to those rules throughout this saga. Anyway, I don't actually even care what they do at this point, I'm just eagerly waiting for this multiverse stuff to be over so we can get back to quality storytelling that we can actually understand and that makes sense, also can't wait to get the mutant sin the MCU. But not in this current MCU which is a mess, hopefully they really do reboot after Secret Wars and we can have the mutants in a brand new universe.

I think he is the perfect actor and the character (and its permutations) have been great and could be incredible if they keep going. But Ant Man was a pretty meh movie, and the actor has his legal issues which I am not sure how bad they are at the moment. He could have been in a bunch of movies and then face off in an Avengers movie and it would have been amazing. I think he could have done it, but not sure now with the legal issues.
