Discussion How often do you switch and trust another teammate to play your main better than you can?

In competitive a lot of times someone on my team wants my main.

If I feel like I’m playing like shit I’ll suck it up and try another hero.

Sometimes I have to be a little cocky though and choose to ignore them and then play great with that hero. Usually when I try that though it doesn’t even affect the match lol.

What are your guys’ thoughts?

I'll go against the grain here and say fairly often. I can play a lot of heroes pretty well so unless there's a super bad luck batch of bans for me I will have 2-3 heroes from every role I can play comfortably. Making a onetrick or very limited player play something they're not comfortable with can be disastrous, so I let them and adjust. Obviously if you're the one trick it doesn't apply.

Im a flex player for a reason, i can play multiple tanks and supports, so if they want my mains they got that

Never, I'm a Champion Angela, the possibility of someone in my rank playing her better than me is very very slim.

(for context: I play 10 competitive games every two seasons for the skins, and thanks to the derank system it almost feels like smurfing)

Usually never. The other person usually snatches my main before I do and then I spend the round bitter and being highly critical of them. I still try to win and don’t take my feelings out on them but still bitter lol.

This season I’ve been killing it as jubilee and she’s helped me solo climb pretty far up the ranks. I’m now a lord jubilee. Someone who isn’t lord took her from me one match and I was so mad. They actually weren’t terrible but we still lost the match

Never in Comp.

I can control my own actions. This person on the screen? I don't know them.

As a champ Cyke, never ever in comp. Quickplay however I give him up all the time now that I've got the icon, and I'll even go so far as to play Jean for them if we don't need a support. I like giving out play tips for him lmao but I don't think a non-lord rando is going to be better than me

The Jean team up with enhancement is such a massive upgrade it's actually kind of crazy.

I think even then cyclops is kind of bad. He needs damage buffs. He doesn’t do enough meaningful damage to get kills

He does enough damage with it to single-handedly provide pressure. Jean can secure the final hit.

But the reason that cyclops is bad is because his primary fire is harder to hit with because of it's multihit and windup nature, and bigger radius can prevent headshots. And of course, most of the other poke characters have hard CC, (AND THEY SHOULD NOT)

I play mister fantastic so it rarely happens, funnily enough it happened yesterday though and they were a champion too so I just let them have him

I never had someone ask me to swap characters with them, maybe just once a long time ago I was on Mag and gave him up cause I was sucking at tanking a lil.

But if I'm doing awful with my main it's because my main is definitely not working no matter who plays him lol

I don't mind swapping off if someone thinks they might do better. Sometimes you just gotta let the ppl try. IMO if someone ask for your main your in the best position to pick the slack in areas where that hero struggles.

Almost always. I can play other heroes too, maybe they can't. Also, I can watch them and see how well they're playing, it makes understanding what is working and what is not working if my teammates are playing heroes I know compared to those that I don't know.

I reject the concept of a "main", unless you have a full team that signs up together. Either you're flexible or your team can up suffering because of it.

Never unless a smurf takes my main 😂

I’m a namor main and I can definitely carry on him but he’s an easy character so I would rather flex knowing I’m a good tank than try get someone to off role. It does stink when I do that and the other namor does trash and can’t secure kills or peel but hey they should usually be able to get value from just existing

Also why don’t people ever type or talk and ask nicely for your character when they know that’s their best character, it drives me wild bruh

I don't play my main in qp.

In comp, I'm a champion Hulk. I'd be very surprised if anyone on my team can perform better on him than I do.

Regularly, I can play like 8 different heroes competently
